You being in the tank really helps with scale. Didn’t look that big when it’s just an empty tank. Are you planning on a bigger clean up crew later.

Nice. I have about 300 of different snails and crabs. But I started with live rock for my 250 galYes, I'll add more as time goes on. I don't want to starve them by going too hard at the beginning. Much easier to keep adding to it as the bioload increases.
How's the tank going? Any new testing?

What were the freebies Dr. Reef gave you and is that a leather in the right bag and if not what is it?
Glad you got the lights up.Well, some good news and bad news today.
Good news is I finished printing and mounting the helix meso blue lights.

The tank is very blue when only lit by these though I'm not really a windex tank lover. I really like the color of the tank when the atlas lights are dimming and the blue comes out stronger though. I'm looking forward to retesting the tank's par in the coming week.
Bad news is that when I went out to check on my quarantine tanks I found one of my clownfish dead at the bottom of the tank.

I'm really at quite a loss as to what happened as it came out of no where. He was moving around just fine earlier today when I was watching the tank with no signs of trouble. They have completed their copper and 3 doses of prazi as well. I was planning to put them in the big tank in just a couple of days. I don't see anything on him to suggest why he died, and I haven't noticed any aggressive behavior between the two clownfish either.
Hows the other one acting? Both clowns eat but not aggressively. They frequently ignore feedings while the other fish eat better.
Sorry to hear that. I hate and love this part of the journey.Bummer. Got home this evening and the other clownfish had passed as well. It's still unclear to me what is going on. I don't know if it's Brooklynella and just minimal outward symptoms. The other fish are acting normally. I'm going to make a separate post in the fish disease subforum to get some thoughts on how to proceed. I'm not sure when to place the remaining fish into the display tank now.
Big milestone to report!
The remaining fish have continued to do well with no signs of illness. I put them through a formalin bath followed by a methylene blue bath (Safety Stop) as an added precaution to try to prevent adding any disease to the tank. With that complete Thursday night marked when fish finally went into the display tank!
Four firefish, 2 banggai cardinalfish, and six royal grammas went in. I must admit I have only ever counted 4 royal grammas since putting them all in and the tank is too large to know if they're just hiding or what. While in their 40 gallong QT the firefish bullied and killed the 5th firefish after a couple of weeks and bullied one of the remaining 4 to the point that it spent the day hiding under one of the PVC elbows coming out only to eat. Now that they are in the DT all 4 are inseparable and swim around like they've been best buds. I'm really glad to see that. The 4 royal grammas that I frequently see appear to have split off into pairs.
Here's how some of the other animals celebrated the occasion:
The day before adding the fish in I climbed in and did some cleaning. I have some green hair algae spread throughout the rockwork and the wallscapes. I brushed it all off. By morning, more was back in its place. My nitrates and phosphates are almost undetectable due to the GHA. Ultimately, I hope I can get the inhabitants to keep it at bay. In the meantime I'll keep at manual removal.
This weekend I changed out my RODI filters and have ICP samples of the tank and RODI in the mailbox to be sent off for analysis. I have ordered supplies to DIY a battery backup for one of my pumps in case of future power outtages. The battery has arrived but I am waiting on the inverter/charger along with the wiring still. At the beginning of the month I received a relatively small shipment from Tampa Bay Saltwater with sand and rock rubble to seed the tank. It is in a 45-day quarantine and will help establish a better biome. I can see random signs of life within the little 10 gallon tank it is housed in.
In one week I will be traveling out of town for 10 days on a family spring break trip. When I return I should have an order from Dr. Reef for another set of fish. They should hopefully be ready for delivery the first week of April. That will include 2 clownfish, 1 lyretail anthias male with 5 females, a leopard wrasse, a McCosker's wrasse, 2 yellow watchmen gobies, and several more banggai cardinalfish. Along with that more CUC will be arriving along with 2 cleaner shrimp. Once those successfully arrive I plan to put in an order for tangs!
My best guess is probably a limpet with aiptasia growing on it, but the 4th picture suggests not.Is this aiptasia? I can't get a great look at it.
