I'm fairly new to the reef hobby but I do have previous experience in FW. My tank has been up for about 1 1/2 maybe 2 months and it is doing pretty great... I think.. nothing has died "in" the tank but there was a fatality when my hermit crab ended up on the floor‍♂️. I'm just going to give you guys the basics to keep it short and to see if I have any issues!

Live stock- from left to right
1 clown fish
1 red zoa frag
1 "Sun coral" frag
1 green birdsnest coral frag
2 different zoa breeds 1 red 1 green on the same frag
1 Goni coral frag
1 green star polyp frag

Set up -
Sb reef light
20-30 gallon carbon filter
50w heater
250 gph wave maker

"Stats"
PH 8.5 ish
Ammonia is 0 ppm
Nitrite 0 ppm
nitrate 5.0 ppm
Phosphate 0.25 ish little lower
KH 125.3ppm
Calcium 22 drops = 440 MG/L ppm

Not sure how some of that works but that's what my tests told me! I am having kind of a gnarly algae issue and I know the coraline is normal I'm actually happy it's in there I love the purple.. but the brown hair like stuff is an issue!

Iv been doing w/c every other Sunday and I try to keep the salt at 1.026

So any tips on the next live stock to be added? Or anything to adjust?

Thank you reef fam!

Grab a new toothbrush. When you are syphoning your water for a w/c. Suck up the hair algae. Right behind what you are brushing off.

Agreed. I managed to get mine under control by manually removing it using a toothbrush. Also I was keeping too clean of a rank and found that slowing down the w/c to half helped. Basically it was cycling because of that. Moved the chance he's up again slowly as the livestock grew. To do it without chemicals takes patience and time

Everything always can be more fine tuned, but what you have seems fine. If you want to add more. Just keep in mind that will be more nutrients added to the tank to help that algae thrive. Are you using RO/DI water? I don't. I do have hair algae, but I do have .000TDS. You can do a dip for your frags with a 60% tank water/40% hydrogen peroxide (H²O²) for 4m if you feel like they are being choked out. I know for zoanthids it work. Mushrooms from another member mentioned fried them. If you want to see results and how to do it. Pm me and I can show you pics and how to do it.

Sorry, my bad. There is a lot of acronyms used in this forum. TDS(Total Dissolved Solids). There is a TDS meter you can buy, but I can tell you honestly you probably have solids in your water. Unless what you mean by store is a LFS(Local Fish Store) not a grocery store. They would be using RO or RO/DI water most likely. Which would be .000TDS if their RO/DI cartridges are still good. If you want since you have a 10g. You can somewhat cheat to have .000TDS like I do. Zerowater filter. It comes with a TDS meter. I make 5g buckets and get about 60g of .000TDS per Zerowater filter. Pm I can teach you how to make a setup. You need 2 buckets, the guts of a 6 cup zerowater pitcher, a table you don't mind putting a hole through that can hold 40lbs of water weight, and aquarium sealant.
