One absolutely surprising thing i have noticed since the stoplight parrotfish was added is that it actively hunts and eats Asterina stars, hasn't touched anything else other than algae. When it finds a star it will suck it in, grind it up some and spit back out the pieces than eat those. Something I never would have guessed.

How is the tank doing? And I hope to build a 1000g tank one day. My tank if I build it will be 20ft long by 3ft by 30in as it's going on the wall in my family room and through a wall into the soon to be fish room.

How is the Rock Beauty doing? Those are very cool.

Definitely would love to see pics of the stoplight parrot. It's so fun to watch those in the ocean. I've never seen anyone else that has one. Your stocking list is really impressive. Can't wait to see when they have been loaded into DT!

So checking back in, despite my best efforts the fallow didn't work, I am 100% positive I did not cross contaminate and everything wet went through full quarantine. All copper levels were checked with a Hanna checker. This is the third intentional fallow in less than a year and a half and doesn't include the nearly 4 months after the fire with no fish. At this point I am done trying to fallow it and am going to live with ich or whatever mutant disease this tank has. Whatever it is doesn't kill fast and a decent portion of the fish seem to eventually develop immunity. To facilitate this I have added two UV sterilizer units and I am running ozone as well. Been almost 2 months this way since I saw the first ich spots not more than 4 days after adding fish. Ich seems to be slowly improving but will just need to wait and see.

Sorry to hear about the ich. Did you think you might have brought ich back into the tank from a new added coral?

Hang in there. You’ve been through a lot, but it’s a gorgeous build and you should be proud. How has your growth been?

Hats off to you bud. It would be easy to quit after all you've lived through with this system. You have an inspiring story of determination, and a very nice looking build to go with it

Where are you buying all your fish. I’m in Northern Colorado and not finding much to stock my 300. Thanks, Jerry

Special orders and hitting all the fish stores mainly, sadly I lost a few of the ones that I had in quarantine back in April/May, brought something in that wasn't effected by copper that took out 2 tanks before I figured out what was going on, still no idea what it even was though likely bacterial.

Just realized how crazy the pics look, like I only have 2 fish, there are 14 fish in the tank right now but you wouldn't know it based on the pics.

Great thread! I'm about as experienced as you as far as leaks in big plywood builds are concerned but I gave up on trying to fix mine and just built an acrylic tank!

+1 to the comments about just managing crypto with UV. Once it's in there you could spend years pulling out your hair with fallow periods and long QT. Get two or three 120 watt life gard units, run about 1000gph through each and don't worry about it.

What a bunch of ups and downs. You’re one persistent dude I must say. Thanks for sharing your experience. Made for an interesting, extended coffee break lol
