I have a 15-gallon All-in-One Reef Casa mixed reef tank and recently added a Nero 3 wavemaker. I’m unsure of the best settings to run it at, particularly the maximum GPH. I plan to keep Zoanthids and Torches, so I want to ensure the flow is appropriate for them. Additionally, I have a pair of clownfish and want to avoid excessive flow that could exhaust them. Any recommendations on the ideal settings would be greatly appreciated!

The clownfish exhausted??? Unlikely. Zoas don't need too much flow, the torches medium flow at best in a random fashion. Solution? Get a small powerhead and angle it opposite your return pump outlet. My wife has 2 baby clowns in her tank a 14g, mocha and chinstrap, they are never exhausted. Your clowns will find a nook in the rocks where they can relax. And relax means just swim less vigorously. Fish don't really sleep like humans. Some just more or less go into autopilot...

DO YOU THINK TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENTS ARE MORE HELPFUL OR HURTFUL TO REEFING?

  • I think it depends mostly on the technology.
