Nice. How's the temp of the aquarium with the glass tops off been?

Sent Via the R2R Forum APP on my Panini Maker.

Nitrates now down to 7-8. One of my zoas is not very happy. The cabbage leather looks mad too. The carpet leather has its stomach hanging out for the past week, but isn't deteriorating. I have brought the nitrates down from 40ish to their current levels over about 3 weeks.

my nitrates are undetectable and my zoas, mushrooms, and toadstool are doing great.

I think as long as the shift in parameters doesnt happen too fast they will acclimate just fine.

So I think I have found the smoking gun in my coral issues with the PAR meter. Everything went down hill quick when I went to screens and that was with me lowering my lights 20% to 40%. The PAR reading on the sand bed is 200. 300 on the ****** off cabbage leather. 230 on the ****** off toadstool leather. 240 on the angry carpet anemone. Just for giggles I tested with the lights at full power. 780 PAR at the sand bed.

The best part is that par meter reads very low so add another 30% and thats closer to real par. 200 is now 260 par 780 is now really bout 1000par

I bet that's what killed my Xenia. I tested where it was and it was 4" from the waters surface and even at 40% on the lights it was getting around 600 PAR there. I wondered why they stayed really small and short when my glass lids were on, when I took them off they died within 3-4 days. I just assumed my anemone killed them.

Running lights at 20% blue 15% white. 100 PAR at the cabbage now, about 70 PAR at the sand bed. Will slowly move it up to a 30/25 mix. I was running a 50/40 mix before. Blue to white.

Hope your corals make a turn for the better. That's a crazy amount of light!

Mike - what do you mean by this? the 'club par meter' is incorrect? ... I ask because I used it a few months back and just curious if it was right or wrong.

All par meters are incorrect to leds unless you have a licor calibrated to measure leds. But those cost thousands. It should be accurate to other lighting types though
