Hey all,

I’m in the middle of setting up a 180g tank and wanted to make sure that the stand I built for it is solid enough. Could you please take a look? Thank you!

It’s built from 45mm aluminum square profiles ( around 1.75 inch x 1.75 inch )

Tank dimensions: 72x24x24

I was hoping I can get away without the center support in front (space between two middle front legs is around 45 inches)

I believe some of the suppliers have losd calculators available to figure out if it is. It looks questionable to me. I would double up under you front span and add corner supports.

Thank you, do you think that an additional leg in the front middle would be enough?

Thank you!

Yes, I would prefer to have it open, but looks are important, so the extra leg is probably better than doubling up under the front span and adding the corner supports. ( between the legs I want to fit rectangular walls attached by magnets )

Did you consult the manufacturer of the parts and see what load they can support?

What size sump are you planning on putting in there. The brackets that attach to the bottom and extend toward the center of the stand are going to limit what you can use, ESPECIALLY if you need to add a center support

Yes, I got hardness, RM, RP0,2 etc from the manufacturer, properties are almost identical to 8020 metric 4545 Lite Black (https://8020.net/45-4545-lite-black-fb.html), so I used their deflection calculator assuming 440lbs weight for the middle front part (in reality it should be much less)

Sump will be around the size 40G breeder and should fit without any problems:

Looks like a really nice stand. If concerned about the front span, you could double up the beam on that portion.

I haven’t chosen the aquarium yet, so no idea :) There will be a white kitchen countertop on top of the stand.
