I hope you do your research and plan everything strategically so you can be successful and enjoy the hobby.
+1, strategy is key.

Carefully plan out the cost of all your equipment, then sand/rocks, then livestock. It’s all baby steps. You’ve got this, but it won’t be easy.

I’m not paying 800$ for a light this is exactly what I didn’t want. I’m ignoring this thread now
Bro not cool after reading this screw it you are obviously not mature enough to take peoples advice seriously. Not only that who told you a light was gonna be $800?!? That’s for an xr30 which is top-of-the-line. You can buy a light for $60 that will grow softs and lps just fine.

As a beginner reefer, you’re not gonna need a top-notch LED! You’ll probably be keeping softies and easy LPS that are undemanding when it comes to lighting.

You need to feed nps corals multiple times a day. They may not rely on light but they rely a lot on other things. Photosynthetic corals are much easier, as they’re like plants (only harder to keep happy).

Trust me, it wouldn’t me a waste of money. As a bundle, you get everything for a great value, probably the same cost as the supplies you’d need without the tank.
You could also use your existing tank as a cheap QT, something that I would strongly suggest! That’s what I did.

The 13.5 kit is not a waste of money. It’s much better then any 20 gallon tank. You will have more success with it
