Hey everyone. We have a 125 Marineland undrilled mixed reef. I was about to order a Reef Octopus classic 2000 hob skimmer, but before I do, I wanted some opinions here. These will run basically $350 or so.

We currently run 3 Seachem tidal 110 filters on the tank.

We have an extra 20g high that is about to be empty. I have really considered trying to just get an overflow box and turn the 20g high into a sump.

What all would I need to get this going? Any pre-made baffle kits for a 20 high?

Would I just need 1 return pump? What size skimmer would be needed?

I have lots of questions, but I would really like to maybe try this instead of doing the hob skimmer if possible. I just really want to get an idea of exactly what equipment I'd need and a total rough estimate of cost.

We have 2 Fluval M200 heaters, can't remember if they would even fit in the 20 high.

Anyway, all opinions welcome before I buy this Reef Octopus hob. Thanks!

20g is bare bones. Better than nothing at best. It'll work as an equipment sump...
Id say for a 120 55g minimum.
It depends on what you want in the sump. Equipment prolly very limited. Return pump and skimmer, and socks or fleece rolls??? Heaters well, they can go anywhere, doesn't matter. It all depends on how and what you want to do. But a 20g is prolly more trouble than it's worth. Look on marketplace for a cheap 55g that'll hold water, and go from there...
