Nice! So as long as there’s two females there’s a good chance one will change to male? I wonder if pairs or harems are more common among them. I think a trio would need an 8ft tank. It’s a shame Biota doesn’t breed G. Melanospilos more frequently.

My male is definitely the boss too. I have two yellow tangs and a kole and he is always the first to the algae sheet. He has mellowed a bit in last month, but still runs the tank. He just likes to be free swimming more than messing in the rocks.

So, my 40g/20g system has been one big algae pit. I have tried stuff, but I think I have briopsis which is why nothing is working. I had it so many years ago in my main tank and beat it without dosing anything, but this time, after almost a year, I am trying fluconazole. Just dosed a couple minutes ago.

I did a full clean of the 20g and picked tons of algae off the 40g, so hope that will not clog anything up as it dies off. Goodness, I should have taken pictures. Oh well. I will know the results.

Okay, finally did even more research on biopellets and I think I will try them again soon at a reduced and more effective method. Especially with my 40g/20g set up.
It appears I missed some main points of set up that contributed to my failure. In all my research, I missed a very important points. So, we will see if and when I start again, how it goes.

Okay, so here is the problem child my 40g system. I just did a full clean of the 20g that is sump linked yesterday so it looks clean, but still see some algae issues. I am hoping the fluconazole treatment will help with this.

40g today:
Remember, this is after I pulled most of the algae off and out. Camera photos too.

I grew my own phyto for a long time many years back. I am finally going to start a new culture area. Pics to come when set up.

Set up with two containers today. I am not sure my culture was live though as I have had it in the fridge for years. We will find out. If not, need to order more.

So, my last purchase for a long while just arrived today. It is another Malu. This one was suppose to be green and purple, but is showing quite pale almost yellow with purple tips.

It is in qt and cipro treatment as it looked a bit rough on arrival. Not too bad, but enough for me to do a treatment/qt before adding it to the system.

This guy added after ciprofloxacin treatment. He is very bleached, but should be better in the full system for recovery.
I hope it colors up. Should be green or yellow with purple tips.

Well al be darned if my nem just decided to float around. I had no flow on until I thought it settled. Nope, I turned one pump on and it found it. By morning, tank was cloudy and nem was injured.

Back to Qt it goes. It has been in there three days and is looking much better now. I think I will keep it in my 20g grow out after it finishes antibiotics again to let it settle completely before thinking of moving it to the 210g.

I have had one other green malu and it died in first week. I think I am not meant to have one. My pink ones are great and healthy.

No pictures, but thought I would mention my lemon damsels began spawning again. I had not seen it for a while, but my female was huge and they were doing a little dance a few days ago and now she is skinny again and the male is hiding. Probably with the eggs.

So fun. :)

Nope. Unless I decide to get some for my other systems like the 40g or 20g. May get a pair of clowns for the nem in the 20g. I love the group I have now in the main system and just like the community. If I did, it would be a group of anthias or maybe a couple small fairy or flasher wrasses. No immediate thoughts though.

In the main system I have the following:
Pair of spot breast angels
Kole Tang
2 Yellow Tangs
Pair of Clarkii Clowns
Pair of Lemon Damsels
3 Talbot Damsels
6 Azure Damsels
Sunset Dottyback
Ear Muff Wrasse
Lawnmower Blenny
Pair of Green Mandarin

My 40g has only a three stripe damsel, an ocellaris and masked goby.

My 6g has now (just lost one fish) 2 black belly gobies, 4 spotted dwarf gobies and a court jester goby.

Thanks for following.
