Hi there, nice tank when get it going again and nice looking tank you had that crashed,I'm only just starting my first saltwater tank so only early on in but would be gutting to lose lots of lovely corals ,my tank also deep and would never buy a deep tank again.
From bottom glass to very top of tank is 29 inch but to sandbed its lie 26 ish inch.
T5's to sandbed is 25.5 inch so question about bulbs you used or have used to get good growth ?
I've only got a 4 bulb t5 fixture that came with tank with 2 marine blue and 2 sunlight but want a more bluer looking tank to get some of the fluorescent out of the corals so just starting my research on lighting again, what you recommend, maybe take 1 or both sunlight tubes out and replace with a atnic blue and a coral white plus or maybe a purple ?
Mrs doesn't want no lights hanging from ceiling and she just changed her mind last night saying she would be ok with lights that clip onto back of tank and look down but would prefer to keep the t5 fixture I got at moment but that limits me with what led fixture I could have that rests on the glass panels above the water or sits on the glass bracing around edge of tank.

Edit: to add at moment I only got few corals, couple torches and a lobo and few zoa/ palys and will mainly be getting few softie/ lps and more than likely a monti cap as love those and possible a few easier sps sticks but only a couple I think .
My tank only a 80 gallon and 38 inch long and just measured again 25..5 inch from bottom of t5 tubes to sandbed

The nice corals were in a 90 gal .

the new tank is a 230 gal

for lighting I have a 8 bulb fixture .
they are roughly 6” above the water line .
a combination of 4 each coral plus and blue plus .

Ok tyvm for reply.my t5 like 3- 4 inch above surface if water but have glass panels directly below .Will look into these coral plus tubes and see whether changing 1 or even both my sunlight tubes for coral plus or maybe 1 coral plus and 1 actinic blue and leave the 2 marine blue in.
Need research the aqua one tubes to see what they actually are as from little research I done I believe there 39kw and wanting to put higher kW in like 54kw if they do it in size I need which I believe is 855mm and if can put them in without changing ballast etc

You should be able to add any t5 bulb of proper size. There shouldn't be a reason to change ballast. Only if you are going a bigger size would you need to change. But, that means a bigger everything.

So you mean if my length of tubes is 85 cm then can put any 85 cm t5 tube in?
And only need new ballast if decided somehow modify my fixture to fit a larger length tube and wanted a 150 cm t5 tube for example ?
So I can add Any kW 85cm tube is what I'm understanding you saying.if that's so then that's great.well great of can actually get higher kW tube to fit in 85 cm
I know you guys use inches but same size is same size ^_^

Absolutely. At long as they are t5! No t8s.
Yes, if you want to change from 4 bulb to 8 bulb you would also need a new ballast.

I would believe so. unless you have an under powered ballast meant for 2 bulbs and not 4, as an example.
I don't know how that could be setup to work though. Each ballast is made to work with so many bulbs.

4 bulb and 8 bulb ballasts are the same. .
Wiring is a little different ..

But changing to a longer length means a complete new fixture .
Not worth the hassle IMO

mata has a personality of its own . Gentle giant .

orange shoulder is transitioning from juv to adult colouring .

sometimes it looks almost black , others still a tinge of yellow
