Thought I would share my 250 dd. Been running for a few months now. Kind of bare because I lost all my sps the day I was starting the tank transfer.
Still need lights and need to finish the canopy.

A little history on me. I've been keeping saltwater for 5+ years. Tank before was a standard 125, lit with t5's. Plan was to transfer everything to my newly acquired dream tank, 250dd.
Moving to a new house the plan was to set up the new tank and have it ready to for the transfer. Unfortunately the transfer didn't happen. The day I was to start the move I walked into devastation. The 125 was done. Night before everything was normal. Less than 24 hrs later everything was dying or dead.

All sps gone, 90% lps gone. Only survivors were some zoas,a yellow tang, and rabbit fish. Only two fish in the tank.

The 250 is pretty much a brand new build. Going for about 3 months now.
I thought I was going to be able to transfer all equipment over and do this build with 0 out of pocket money. Tank, stand, sump, and skimmer were all acquired by trade...other than salt and livestock.
Decided to build a full canopy because one the floating canopy was built for the 125 and 2, I don't want any light spill anymore.

Problem I have now is current 60" fixture isn't going to fit inside new canopy now. Led bars I will just cut down to a 48" length and rewire. Was set on finding a 48" 8 bulb but have decided to give halides a shot.
Thinking of going with the lumen bright se reflector, with an electronic ballasts and 20k radiums. Not sure if I should go 250w or 400w.
I will be using the rb leds and starting out with 1 t5 tube. Goal is to achieve same look as before and also handle a sps dominant tank. Hope I am.making the correct decision.

Pulled the led bars from old canopy. Need to cut to fit new canopy.
Ballasts arrived for new halide set up.

Built open top canopy. Lighting is almost done. Decided to go with lumen bright mini reflectors, 400 watt radiums, and powering with the lumen max ballast. Kept my leds and cut them down to fit inside the canopy. Also adding 1 t5 bulb. Leds and t5 will light the tank while halides are off. Excited to see how it looks and how sps respond.
Should have it mounted tomorrow.
