In the 3 months progress since starting from the 20 gallon hex to the 55 gallon reefing, all not favored in reefing, I chose to bang my head and pretend I'm the exception. With success so far (thanks YouTube)😂 , and about only $1k into it and it's pretty empty still , has 4 fish and one I will have to rehome and replace (sailfin) just don't tell my kids that yet.

I realized from the graveyard of stoney corals bleached over night, to the dead Duncan I kept moving everywhere. Why everything had to fall directly onto it? so now it's inflated, I'll probably never understand. To the goby I wasn't ready for, the refugium I created from a hob filter lol , the arrow crab mistake I clearly rage purchased, the only having strips to test the waters realizing I'd go mad chasing numbers, but my waters probably has zero potassium because I can't test that yet lol somehow I maintain healthy water for fish at least pretty good. Lol , to and the first 2 clownfish , which my LFS replaced without incident. and are now the longest survived and run the tank a little now, I learned why most quit for sure.

let's clean our glasses in honor of the fallen do to our impatience. But it was needed for research to progress lol all for the reef!

To the mysis sitting in my freezer now, this hobby is all about upfront costs and constant tweaks and changes, before the tank even looks like an actual fishtank.

I love everything until the idea starts creeping up about one morning you will wake up to boiling water from a heater fail !! Haha hope not , topfin is respectable brand and I will not tolerate the disrespect from , myself😂

hope everyone is enjoying they're experimental journey. I'll try more pics over time

Reefing is an adventure with plenty of ups and downs. Good luck!

We all start somewhere, and reef tanks definitely have a steep learning curve. Looks like you’ve come a long way! Congratulations!

If I could give just one suggestion. Consider putting in more rock, not because you need it for filtering, but as you add more fish they will need caves, territories and hiding places to feel more secure. Everyone needs a place to call home! 🤣
