The new wave maker was wayyyy too strong and bulky. I couldn’t turn it down either. I’ve moved some of my zoas around though, now they’ve got the flow they needed.

I’m not really sure what the next step for the tank is. I’d like to upgrade/purchase the following equipment:
1. Wavemaker (this is first)
2. May add UV
3. A frag rack for my sump
4. A live camera (maybe)
5. Suggestions?

Livestock:
1. My new sailfin (whenever he arrives)
2. Maybe another clown goby, having two goby pairs would be cool
3. Maybe another clownfish (again, another mated pair)
4. Utter chaos frag
5. A donut coral
6. A plate coral
7. Suggestions?

Got a call from LFS about my “black highfin blenny” having arrived, now I’m a bit concerned because all I ordered was a sailfin blenny. Full story:
- went to lfs and asked to order in a sailfin blenny

- employee told me they were in stock and leads me to the lawnmower blennys, which I tell him isn’t a sailfin
- I show employee this picture referring to what I want, which is similar and I figure this proves I don’t mean a lawnmower

- Employee asks if I want a similar highfin goby

- Employee says he’s ordered in my blenny
- Get a call that my black highfin blenny is in stock (I think this)

Now, as many can see, these fish are pretty different. I’m a bit concerned they’ll have ordered in something totally different, especially after saying the highfin goby looked exactly the same.

That’s true, I have a 5 year old sister and before I moved she named any clownfish I have Nemo, then one day she just named one jack. Then switched his name back to Nemo.

It’s not nearly as funny when you see an adult do it though...

Actual conversation at my lfs:
Customer: yes I’d like 5 Nemo’s
Employee: walks over to saltwater section with bag, looking for customer (he assumed she meant clowns)
Customer: no these ones right here (points to goldfish)

I just watched in awe

Ha! That is sad. The cuteness is inversely proportional:
kid saying Nemo vs. adult saying Nemo

I gotta say, I deserve an award. I not only guessed that the store would get the wrong thing, I guessed the EXACT fish they would get. I was 100% right. How about that? No sailfin blennies for a bit it seems. What do you guys think about a mandarin?

What fish is the second one down? It’s black orange and blue. It’s awesome looking!

Do you know the scientific name for the fish you are looking for? That would maybe help get the right one. Most of what I see for sale that is called a sailfin blenny is the same as a lawnmower blenny.

I didn’t specially ask for the gulf signal (but fun story, their “saltwater expert” denied its existence and said it was just photoshopped) but used it as an example. It’s E. hypancanthus as the gulf signal, which is said to be COMMON, how about that? I was looking for E. Pandionis, or the Atlantic sailfin blenny, which isn’t rare either. They ordered the rather drab Atrosalarias fuscus, or the dusky blenny. I’m pretty angry about the photoshop thing, they acted like I was a total idiot because the image they saw of it came from reddit and said never to bring them that type of question again (I’m not joking)

I need a new LFS...sigh. Guess I’ll also mention they had awful stock today, one of their blue tangs has a weird skin infection with bumpy raised areas under the skin. It was also emanciated. A royal gramma had a worse infection on the base of its tail with fungus and was swimming in upside down circles. Loads of fish were lying on the ground of their tanks and looked starved.

Yeah, that's more in line with my typical experience there. I can't believe they said that to you...I would not have handled that well lol. It looks like fishy business lists E. Pandionis on their site but out of stock.

FWIW I have heard really good things about Nemo's Reef in Charlotte. There are also several good LFS in Columbia.
