I didn’t want to get mad and not be able to come back, I have a unique history with taking insults so it doesn’t really phase me. I still have to buy water from them, but I’m not buying their fish or dealing with their employees. I had the best one back home, I really need to go back, they took good care of me for 10+ years. I’m going to look around on here for any fish of the E. Genus first though.

Just realized I forgot to mention that they told me that no one had seen one in 10 years, and that because of the hurricanes in the Atlantic there was a zero percent chance of me getting one in my tank in anywhere within 6 months. Let’s try to prove them wrong ha ha ha.

A bit more info on the fish is that they are actually a species of barnacle blenny and are often only about 2 inches. There are varying stories of success keeping them in warm water reefs (some saying it’s impossible and others saying they do it). It’s best to keep several males and 1 female so that there is territorial displays (so cool).

Well it’s a barnacle blenny (basically not taxonomically), I kept a barnacle blenny for several months and he would have been around longer but refused to leave his rock when I moved the tank and despite my keeping it submerged never came out again.

What do you guys think about a mandarin?

Mandarin is tough because they eat constantly. In a tank your size he would probably deplete pods quickly. It may be you would have to keep adding a steady stream of new pods to the tank.

I can believe that and I don’t have the resources to add $20-30 to my tank every week. I’ll wait till I hear more on my sailfins first.

Found a seller of Pandionis, also found some more info on Hypacanthus. While a common fish, they are rarely imported because of their colder water (gulf of California). They prefer water in the low 70’s. I’ll probably order a group of Emblemaria Pandionis within the month. I’m hoping 3 males and 1-2 females.

I think I'm going to wait on the Pandionis, there is so little information on them that I don't want to spend 80ish dollars on them and then lose them, I'm a college student. Thankfully there is a big fish meet coming up here that I'm going to (and helping with) so I'll get to see some good options for my tank hopefully.

Alright I've finally decided to go for it and get a nicer pump. I'm ordering a 1050 gph eFlux tomorrow, I will keep the replaced pump online as well to get even more flow (can't have too much). Hopefully I'll start seeing some real zoa growth soon.

Got a call from LFS about my “black highfin blenny” having arrived, now I’m a bit concerned because all I ordered was a sailfin blenny. Full story:
- went to lfs and asked to order in a sailfin blenny

- employee told me they were in stock and leads me to the lawnmower blennys, which I tell him isn’t a sailfin
- I show employee this picture referring to what I want, which is similar and I figure this proves I don’t mean a lawnmower

- Employee asks if I want a similar highfin goby

- Employee says he’s ordered in my blenny
- Get a call that my black highfin blenny is in stock (I think this)

Now, as many can see, these fish are pretty different. I’m a bit concerned they’ll have ordered in something totally different, especially after saying the highfin goby looked exactly the same.
That is an amazing fish! I see why you want one.

Yeah I really like them, too bad they really aren’t reef safe (E. Hypacanthus) because of temp requirements.

Yeah, while E. Pandionis is fine in our reefs, E. Hypacanthus prefers lower 70’s to high 60’s.

I’m considering reallocating about 8x12 inches on the right side of my tank as a frag area. I think it’d be cool. It might not look great though and I’d have to really change my rockwork.

If you think it would be worth it, go for it.

I've bookmarked all the links to set that up if/when the time comes. I ordered in 4 filter socks and the 1050 gph eFlux to connect with my others. I think my corals will appreciate having some real flow in the tank for a change. I'm thinking of rescaping to give a better slope for water.

I'll be running five 3/4 inch RFG nozzles off of my return. Hopefully i don't need any wave makers.
