Hello!
So I've been lurking for a bit on these forums and watching/reading a lot of guides/tutorials since I've been thinking of getting my first saltwater tank. I've started the process of hardware I'll need in my basement (Brute mixing station/quarantine tank/etc.) and I'm currently debating on what tank I'll have on the main floor at my house. Last week I was pretty dead set on getting Red Sea 300XL, but after going to the LFS for the first time and explaining to the people there of my intentions, I was literally shocked on how bad I was basically called out that it was a terrible decision to go that route and I'm better off with basically any other tank. Besides the awesome coral and fish they had, the whole experience was basically cringe worthy since I was basically belittled for my idea in front of the other customers.
So could anyone give me any guidance/recommendation on a ~36 inch width tank that they view as high quality/reliable? My plan is to have the tank on the right side of this room (pic below) next to the half-wall splitting the room up with my office. I'd prefer the rimless type tank since I like the design/look if at all possible. I was also thinking I can drill a hole through the half-wall and have something such as an Ikea cabinet with more hardware on the right side of the wall to keep a minimalistic look from this room if that makes sense.
If you need additional info from me on this, just let me know and I'll provide any additional info needed!
Thanks! Dan
