Hey all I’m just gauging the interest of everyone. Of a few of these items that I’m thinking about printing. Please let me know your honest opinions. And all pieces will be printed with petg and abs filaments.
So the sump kit the drainage area is going to try and be printed as one piece so there is no mistaking lay put together wrong. But here are a few pics of what I’m thinking

anything that mounts to front or sides of tank like frag racks and such will have neo magnets and be sealed with aquarium sealant. Let me know what you all think.

Sure you can do it but why? Glass or acrylic are cheap and easy. 3D printing is great for some things, but I don’t think sump baffles is one of them.

Well I’ve noticed the kits you get on amazon and eBay are how to put it. Hmmmm ya I’m just going to say they’re butt. The one I have planned to print is easy to install and be 3/4 the price. But it’s not the only thing I plan on offering.

I would not buy one from amazon. Never even looked at them. You can’t get a much easier material to work with than acrylic. Any glass shop will cut glas to spec as plastic shops will do with acrylic.
Like I said some things lend themselves well to 3D printing while some do not. I could be wrong you might sell a bunch of sump kits. You asked for feed back.

no i got ya and where youre coming from i know i tried at one point to use one of those dumb kits off amazon and ya they are horrible trying to get in there to seal them. so my idea was to have a rail they slide into so it can easily be sealed onto the tank then sealed into the rails. thats kinda where i was going with it but i was just curious on something like that. but obviously i focus on frag rack test kit station and such. i do have 1 person who wants a kit and shell be my lab rat. lol. i do appreciate the feed back for sure tho.

Well, to be honest depending on the material used sump kits are actually purchase more often. Purchasing a tank is easy but having the setup to function and look like a custom sump is what’s appealing; specially with color designs. Amazon and Ebay seems to be the only place you can find these that often and prices are a bit on the higher size.

I was looking into this many times even a all in one filtration system like Fiji cube offers

@Aggro - did you ever go forward on your designs? I've been looking at making a drop-in for a new imagitarium 40 gallon breeder tank. The fijicube AIO drop-in wasn't an option as this doesn't quite match the Aqueon dimensions. I ran across this thread while searching for inspiration or solutions before I dig into rolling my own.

Ah, gotcha - thanks! I’m thinking of going HOB Overflow with a sump beneath as an option as well. I have an EVO 13.5 AIO with my own 3D media chambers currently and am still a bit green/inexperienced to be comfortable cutting & amateur plumbing it all together lol 😅

Plumbing is actually quite easy you should just try it out see how it goes get the expierence so if you ever get a bigger tank you’ll know how and what you’re looking at. And for me it helped me understand the way it worked.

I did designed and printed something similar for my 10G sump. I am limited to a 10G tank under my 54G corner so I had to go compact. i plan to do another for a 20G long soon. I wouldn't print a whole baffle but a rail that you silicone to the tank and slide a piece of acrylic into and glue in place. Allows for rough cutting the acrylic and easier glue up / assembly of the sump

10G Tank (Assembly) v1.jpg

this was not the final layout but the basis of compnents. uses a 4" filter sock. also printed a ATS for it sump.jpeg sump2.jpeg ats.jpeg

Ah, thanks!
in the end i didnt use the baffle since the 3d printed housing for my return pump set the height of the water level. also had spots for float switches in the return pump housing which worked out well controlling my old jbj ato.
I printed the baffle rails because I was thinking I may have been able to squeeze a very small refugium in it but was not worth the effort.

I’m not sure if my Imagitarium is tempered glass or not so I’m hesitant lol - was originally set on making a side AIO but now alternatively trying to figure out how to go this route with the lowest risk of failure on my part due to inexperience. As a bit of a noob I was thinking maybe HOB overflow and sump out of a 20 breeder, then if I upgrade size in the future do it right on the upgrade and convert the 40 into a sump.
