3D Printing in reefing.

So I wanted to start a discussion as to what you guys have used a 3D printer to print items for your reef or would there be something you would want printed? I was able to purchase a printer and my mind is racing with idea's and the options seem limitless. I've printed a few things for myself and a few members here but for the most part , I haven't seen a lot of 3D printed items here. What is stopping you from trying 3D printed parts?

I've printed some frag shelves (personalized with names on them too) and nori clips. Not much yet.

Dennis what material did you use? I've heard that PLA will slowly deteriorate in saltwater

I have used both PLA as well as ABS. ABS would be better.

View attachment 779168 Oh yeah, I forgot. I printed a tray for my Biocube 32 to replace the filter that comes with the tank. That works fantastic.

I've printed some hermit crab shells for my kids hermit crabs. About 5 different sizes I've printed. They didn't seem to like them.

I have a Prusa MK3 and I have printed a bunch of object for the tank, and control systems. You shoudl really stick to PETG or ABS based prints if they are to come in contact with water.
I am looking to mass a bunch of source files together so I can reproduce for people on here.

So far for my tank I have printed these.

• Vortex Nozzles & Line Loc Adapters
• Cable Management
• Switch Panel (20mm Rockers)
• Tank Feeder+Probe Holder (Not Pictured, but Here)
• Ecotech Controller Mounts (Not Pictured, but Here)
• This custom BOB

Are they worried it will take away from vendors, I am surprised that there is no DIY 3d printing section.... It would really help this community and expand the tech in the reef aquariums
