I was in the same spot a few weeks ago. Got everything clean except the overflow. Tried covering it with paper towels soaked in vinegar and then CLR. Tried scouring pads. Tried a pressure washer. Got most of it off but finally gave up. Just wasn't worth the effort I was putting into it for something that was just going to get covered again anyway.

What size is that overflow in width by the way. I have a Tunze that is five in wide ( the part that is in the tank) I'm looking for a new one

Nice job, and about the 40 breeder. Your restraint to not go to fast with stocking will save you plenty of money and lots of heartache.

That's what I have for my current display tank.

I did upgrade but havnt had time to set it up though.
