I was in the same spot a few weeks ago. Got everything clean except the overflow. Tried covering it with paper towels soaked in vinegar and then CLR. Tried scouring pads. Tried a pressure washer. Got most of it off but finally gave up. Just wasn't worth the effort I was putting into it for something that was just going to get covered again anyway.The overflow might not get cleaned. That stuff is welded on there

What size is that overflow in width by the way. I have a Tunze that is five in wide ( the part that is in the tank) I'm looking for a new onewill be picking up a 75gal this weekend. Hopefully I can have that one up and running pretty quickly.
