Don't do it. Just get a real sump. I had professional made sump baffles. For some reason it just cracked releasing 25- 30 gallons of saltwater water on my dining my dinning room and sons bedroom. Don't. DIY A SUMP

Acrylic sheet can swell when it is constantly submerged for a long time. If that divider was cut to be a tight fit that could explain why it cracked. Anytime you put acrylic in a sump like that you should make sure your pieces are cut a tad short to allow for that expansion.

I had one going on a 75gal for 7yrs. I agree. But this was a huge disappointment. I fully agree the baffles were to tight. At the moment I didn't think it was a possibility. But now I have a Fiji sump and it's so much better. Im happy it have a upgrade with no loss of fish or corals I ran over 1.5 weeks with heaters and power heads running. Protein skimmer is definitely trying to get back to normal.

sorry wasnt trying to be mean, just meant i love them myself. i have had eshopps and bashsea sumps before but i still like my 2 diy sumps more. is the build quality the same? absolutely not. but they were perfectly fit for my equipment and a fraction of the cost.
it would be great if someone sold already constructed aqueon or imagitarium diy sumps already done (locally because shipment costs add $$), but people would then complain about the weak glass instead of seeing the cost/benefit of them.

being in the saltwater game this long i feel ur pain. soaking up that much saltwater and dealing with the aftermath sucks and i wouldnt wsh it on anyone.

just run the skimmer like normal and keep increasing the internal height until it works. alternatively run the skimmer normally but have the cup drain open for when it overflows. it will go back to normal pretty fast unless it was a tiny tank
