IT was a pain in the ..., but I just took my time and did the best I could. I used a caulking gun and took my time.

I also have a 40B it's been running for 18 months now. I'm using vipar spectra LED fixtures on mine. They are 165 watts each. You can get them off Amazon for a little over $100 a piece. I had just 1 but it was giving me a little bit more shadowing than I wanted. Considering I've got them only 9" above the water line. Unfortunately that's as high as my hood would let me hang them.
I use just one but i am able to hang it quite high over the tank i dont recall that height off hand i believe it was better than 12" though so that help with the shadowing and such.

Thanks for the advice everybody i will definitely keep you guys updated. Last night i scrubbed things pretty well and put my filter sock back on plus added a sponge filter to my over flow box to help catch as much junk as i can. I plan to change the filter sock every day and hopefully i can get somewhere with this nonsense.

I like your sump is that a 20high? I had wanted a refugium in my sump but ran out of room with the skimmer i have. I also just noticed that you dont have an in sump skimmer do you run without one?

Thanks. Sump is a 30g (30x12x17) . I only have about 5 weeks with the tank running and I didn't get a skimmer yet until I get more livestock. I put some rocks on my refugium to later add some copepods to it.

So after scrubbing lastnight i came home to this today it looks like i didnt touch it. I can scrub again but it just going to do the same thing tomorrow. I really think its diatoms and my water is to blame. Hopefully i can get new rodi filters and test that theory soon. But would diatoms be the reason for my zoas and gsp to be closed up tight? Or maybe they are just nutrient starved because the diatoms are hogging phosphates and i have virtually no nitrates.

I put in the cleanup crew and they took care of my diatoms on the rock and on the sand like crazy.
