Some moves were made! Drove 45 min one way last night to pick up this single head of stratosphere from a fellow Atlanta Reef Club member.

While I was there, I also ended up picking whatever these are up. They look like a mix between magicians (the mouth) and some morph of salted agave maybe? No clue, but they caught my eye so I’m grabbed them as well.

This tank has been thriving, with tons of new growth everywhere, crabs spawning, so figured it was time to try something more high end finally.

I put together a nice little mushroom pack out of this tank, that is currently up for auction on the Atlanta Reef Club forums
P4070093.jpeg

King Kong Yuma, Gonzo Golden Dragon, Lava Lamp disco, and a green rhodactis with pink tips. The King Kong is originally from my bedroom tank but had been in this one in a shroom cage to get it to attach to something. This is the mother colony it came from.
P4020061.jpeg

The Lava Lamp also was originally in my bedroom, but was moved over here a few weeks ago and swapped with just a single small one, since propagation will be much simpler in this tank as opposed to a 15g cube. The little frag being sold has been in here for at least a month at this point. It was a natural frag that I found already attached to the tiny rubble I used as substrate.

Bad news first, the polyp of strat imploded on itself. Not sure why, since the other frag I picked up with it was right next to it on a frag rack and has new heads open already. I had a feeling I flew too close to the sun too soon, but for this to be the only thing I’ve lost in months I’m not beating myself up too much. If anyone has any idea why a zoa would do this, I’d love to know.
P4070091.jpeg

In better news, I was able to get 2 polyps of fairy fart zoas from a fellow ARC member as a gift. They are my favorites but I lost my colony during a bad divorce, and had been looking to get some again. Unfortunately, the person who had them was quite a bit out of the way for me so I wasn’t sure when I’d be able to make it over that way to pick them up.

Unbeknownst to me, @ShanePike had arranged to buy the 2 frags of fairy farts yesterday, and we had already arranged to meet today to trade a King Kong Yuma for some baby stomatella he has breeding in a tank. He was kind enough to pick up the 2 polyps of fairy farts for me while he was out that way, and brought them with the stomatellas.

For his kindness and effort of picking up the fairy farts for me, I brought this frag of blue chalice

And was pleasantly surprised with 6 baby stomatellas, after only asking for 4
IMG_1695.jpeg

3 went into this tank that already has 1 giant one in it, while the other 3 went into my bedroom 15g. They are super cute, but also very small so they got lost in this tank right away. I was, able to find some in my bedroom tank though. This is a size comparison of one with one of my sexy shrimp

Once again, the kindness and the generosity of Atlanta Reef Club members helps improve my tanks in one way or another. This hobby really does have some great people in it.

I won a $50 gift card to @Dinkins Aquatic Gardens in a giveaway on here last week, that I honestly don’t even remember entering into 🤷‍♂️, and the order came in this morning! Most of the pods went into this tank. The bottom 1/5 or so of each went into my bedroom 15g cube.

One of my unknown named discos went on quite the “walk” recently and left behind a few babies along the way. It was refusing to let go of the first one though

How did you like the copepods? Did you notice any sort of difference overnight?
Both of my tanks have very established amphi/iso/copepod populations, so adding these 2 bottles won’t make a visible difference at this point. It’s been the tiggers the last multiple times I’ve added pods, so I wanted to diversify the populations again.

Got back from a weekend out of town, and everything was doing great. One small blue chalice coral fell off the rack, but no serious damage was done to it. The piece that was stung a few weeks back is completely healed and has the most growth out of any of the frags of this
P4290187.jpeg

This other piece is coming to a local club meeting this Saturday that is going to be a frag swap style meeting this time around. The blues and textures are subtle, but quite stunning on these frags imo
P4290186.jpeg

This red convict chalice was pooping from every mouth when I got home this afternoon
P4290190.jpeg

The 2p of fairy farts I picked up recently are doing great and are already larger than when I got them. Hopefully more polyps start sprouting up soon.

Yesterday, the Atlanta Reef club had its second meeting of the year and this time it was a frag swap style. There was also a fragging demo on 5 different types of corals that everyone was able to take home: splatter hammer, kryptonite candy cane, Idaho grape montipora, purple pocillopora, and spicy lemon favia.

There was a white elephant gift exchange where I walked away with a nice green monti cap. Unfortunately, the person who chose my gonzo golden dragon mushroom set it down while he helped with the fragging demo and someone else walked away with it. First time I’ve ever experienced anything of the sort at one of the meetings. As soon as I have another one available I’ll be giving it to him.

Someone else was giving away “nirvana zoas”, although I’m not certain that’s what they are. Or they are a morph of some sort. Whatever they are, can’t argue with free99 and neat color combos!

I had previously traded with someone who offered some free turbinaria but had forgotten to bring it, so I got a bunch of small chips I was able to make 8 frags out of as well.

I came home up $25 and with a bunch of new corals. These are all the newest additions to the tank after yesterdays event!

It’s an amazing club, and we are extremely fortunate to have it. I was recently made a moderator on the forums and have been attending some of the behind the scenes meetings.

I forgot to mention the club also was collecting donations yesterday for Gray’s Reef. We will be having a member from the organization give a zoom presentation shortly that anyone is welcome to attend if interested.

A few shots from around the tank while my daughter naps.

How many different mushrooms can you find?
P5070066.jpeg

I sold the mother of these at the ARC event last weekend. Luckily, she had left 7 babies behind for me which is why I was willing to sell her
P5070064.jpeg

These 2 look interesting next to each other
P5070068.jpeg

The splatter hammer still is photographing nicely
P5070085.jpeg

The top of this grafted contraband Digi is really taking off now
P5070095.jpeg

And this acro just keeps on stealing the show, even though it’s still so little

Had a friend join me while I was making water earlier today. Try to not be too impressed with my set up 😉

I picked up a Sunkist bounce with 2 babies from a local reefer Sunday evening after work, and was finally able to get some pictures of it

P5140142.jpeg

This little strip of the mushroom garden was looking good. The 2-headed King Kong Yuma is still 2 heads with 1 stalk. It’s been like this for months at this point.
P5140130.jpeg

The greens are really starting to show through on this Red Convict (I think?) chalice
P5140139.jpeg

I originally didn’t think too much of this Idaho grape monti, but now that it has settled it it’s actually quite pleasant to look at
P5140133.jpeg

I sold the other half of the green hairy mushroom at the ARC event a few weeks ago, so now the little clown sulks in the one left

The splatter hammer I got earlier this month from the fragging demo at the Atlanta Reef Club meeting. The president of the club was nice enough to cut up his massive colony as part of the demo, and everyone was able to take a frag home. I thought my frag had new heads forming, but wasn’t 100% sure. Think it’s safe to say, my original assumption was correct!

I can’t even begin to express my gratitude for the generosity of fellow Atlanta Reef Club members. Earlier today I was able to trade a used Marucci Cat X baseball bat that I cleaned up and put a new grip on (I manage a Play It Again Sports) for a Jawbreaker and Dragon Lady bounce mushroom. Not even close to an equal value in trade (I severely came out on top). They are small, for now. But mushrooms seem to love my tanks. Now I really need to upgrade the lighting on this tank, so I can set up the 20g AIO frag tank I picked up for a mushroom grow out tank.
