Nicrew hyper reefs, smatfarm, or the nicrew marine strip lights are the budget lights I would reccomend. The current USA lights don't pull as much wattage as the nicrews if I remember correctly and I think they just aren't as good.
Been considering a Nicrew for a 20 nano. Very affordable and has an optional controller with lots of positive reviews. Thinking a pair of 100w or pair of 150w getting the job done on that 40b

I had wrote noopsyche and asked what they recommend and she said 2 minis are powerful enough for a 40b

Does depend on what's growing. SPS still need more PAR and that 40b is deep enough that placement matters. R2R has PAR values on many lights. I'd search any light to see if others have posted and get a general idea. Mot going off the manufacturer recommended.

I have three current R24s over my 40 breeder. I compared surface par on mine to what the LFS using XR30s on his tanks with the photone app and they had similar par numbers (mine at 100%). The app is really easy to use and they run around 200 a pop with mounts which do work on rimmed tanks. The par numbers for two are on the par data base. I don't know why everyone hates on them. You don't need three.

Hey everyone. So I ended up going with 2 k7 minis. I got them in yesterday. This is the settings that are preset. I know I should most likely change them. But not sure to what. I have zoas, paly, blasto, duncan, and gorgonian. Ill attach pics. Thanks for any info.
