I like blue star wrasses or leopard wrasse. I’ve also had success with a Bartley’s anthia in a 50 gallon. I actually also like blue green chromis. They are cheap fish, but they give me a real reef feel.

Blennies are also good for algae cleaning

Carpenters flasher wrasse caught my eye, anyone object?
that a nice option, there are many flasher wrasses out there so i would check which one you like best and what is available. Just make sure you have a good tank lid because wrasse are jumpers

Since you like smaller fish I would look into springeri and azures damselfish. You can buy multiple of them for pretty cheap and they are peaceful and active fish. These are non territorial damselfish in my experience, unlike other damselfish. Springeri are also supposed to eat flatworms which is a plus

I have a 40b, a somewhat similar size to your tank and my favorite fish by far in the tank is the flame hawk. He has a great personality as he always gets excited thinking I'm going to feed him every time I walk past my tank and has interesting interactions with other fish. The bright red colors on him are great also. The green mandarin goby in my tank is also an awesome fish to get. Extremely cool and vibrant colors and just an all around great fish. I would suggest getting an aqua-cultured one, as the wild caught ones need pods to eat and supplying those in your tank can get pretty costly. Good luck with your tank!

My full stocking list-

- 2 ocellaris clowns
-Tomini Tang
-Midas Blenny
-2 banggai cardinals
-Flame hawk
-Green Mandarin Goby
