Plumbing completed next step water. And lights. T5’s and 6 kessil A360x. I’m also really intrigued by the Orphek LED strips.....decisions.

Awesome build! I can't wait to do another acrylic tank. I built my 450 gallon a few years back and have been yearning to do a 96x48x32 for quite a while now. Hopefully it'll be in the budget within the next two years or so.

This one already has me thinking of building a bigger one I found 144” sheets of 2” Material I’m thinking 12x60x30” for the next one but it’ll have a filter room attached to the next one.

Filter rooms are a great thing. I don't know how I ever got by without one! Here's mine.

Though it is currently under construction again for a bigger, better, less dumpy looking sump.

We had some family over today to help get the tank into the family room. I took the sliders off so it was easy to get it in. The saint (wife) helped get the paper off with the help of our 11 year old. Then our nephew used it as a play pen. The saint made me stand next to it for scale I’m 6’4 the tank with canopy on will be 76” tall so it’ll be tall as I am. The canopy and stand cover will be accessible from all sides. I’m using poplar for the stand and canopy skins.

That looks awesome. I’m jealous. What size magus curve is that? I’ve heard good things about them I’m on the fence about trying the curve 12 or the reef octopus 300 12”. I also need to build a wider sump I have enough 24” pieces left to build a 60x24x18 sump. I also need to build another quarantine rack but nobody had acrylic right now.

The tank is slowly clearing, I know I shouldn’t really have lights on it but I missed the blueish glow of the tank in our family room. This build has really been an experience. It has brought my kids closer to me, made me understand my wife puts up with more of my BS than she deserves lol (just in case she sees this) and so even through the COVID aggravation impacting my stores this tank has made memories and brings a smile.

I’m happy with the scape....for now. The second board is drying in the garage. after seeing the 360 reef I really wish I had a space where I could have placed a filter room behind the tank. Oh well we’ll do that with the tank in my office. (Construction on that tank 1,500 gallons starts in September)

I’ll start assembling the frame for the stand and canopy tomorrow. I’m using Azek cut into 1x2” strips screwed together for the canopy and will skin it using French cleats so I can take all the panels off for access. The stand is using 1x4 poplar boards to cover the steel and poplar plywood panels.

Looking great so far, I’m a Kessel guy but I intend to integrate the 3x Orpheks and perhaps 3 Kessel 360x on top of my 425 gallon reef tank build for supplemental. Will continue to follow thread to get some great ideas

I’m following various threads to get ideas on sump size for larger Aquariums. I might do a custom Advanced Acrylic sump but haven’t made my mind up due to the $. I see that you are building your own. Ideal for sure to get it exactly to fit your needs.

Check out Acrybox LLC Luna reef customs. Rob does really nice work and his prices are more than reasonable.

Nice build, don't let others stress you on time. I took about 9months to build my current dt from the day the acrylic came to rocks in tank . Build is half the fun :)
