Hello everyone got a new build coming up, a used 54 gal corner tank. I am getting is Friday and will end up being my dads tank ( i have a 120 and this 54 is gonna be his to put what he wants in it). Lighting i think if gonna be a Kessil A360, and he wants "colorful" fish so this should get interesting. The tank used to be a fresh water Cichlid tank, though no meds were used in the tank. Planning on rinsing it out a few times and going to be posting pictures the whole time

Thanks, gonna start taking pictures tomorrow once I get the tank. I'm hoping my old sump for my 120 will fit under the tank but won't know until we get it home

Got the tank home and looks overall in good condition, probably need to get new pipes for the overflows (might try to clean them out well) and for sure at least one new o-ring for the bulkhead. Unfortunately, my old sump will not fit under the tank so might build one. Now my dad might be thinking of doing seahorses in this tank...this should get interesting now...pics below of the tank and stand

Nice! I had a chance to buy a 90 corner one time and passed now I regret not getting it. I've always liked the look of the corner tanks. Good luck with the build and keep us updated.

Im actually really excited about this build, as it should be interesting to see what I can do with a corner tank. The hard part is going to be a sump for it as i don't have a ton of room under it

Picked up a copper test kit today, going to clean out the tank come sunday and fill it up a little before testing the water to make sure the old silicon is not leaching copper after being a freshwater cichlid tank. Will post some pictures after cleaning it on sunday

Small update, got the o ring I needed for the bulkhead as the old one was hard as a rock and cracking so couldn't trust it. Also did some cleaning on the tank and tested some rodi water after let setting for a few hours...no copper detected 20190423_174130.jpg 20190423_174122.jpg 20190423_174115.jpg

I’m also gunna be doing a build with this tank, fwiw I got the eshopps cube nano refugium sump. It fits underneath perfectly, with a little room to work an auto doser as well. Nothing’s wet yet, so I can’t speak to how good it is, and it has mixed reviews online, but trying to figure out what I was gunna do for a sump was driving me insane and I’ve never seen this sump come up as an option in any googling/other builds. It’s a little pricey, but for the way it fits/size/being able to do fuge, it was worth it in my eyes.

I was thinking about doing a sompatic 60 as it will fit under the tank just fine and I think a skimmer might be more useful than a tiny fuge

Let me know how you like the current USA lighting. I need new lights for my 75 gallon when I set it back up and I don't have radion money. So these are very tempting.

I'll let you know, its for my dads tank, he wants to do mainly softies and maybe a little lps so this should be okay, for my 120 i think i am going to do the reefleds from red sea

Following.

A 10 gallon sump will fit under that stand also, if you haven’t ordered the Eshopps yet.

i haven't ordered my sump yet, space is really tight, i think the largest i can go is 15 x 15, i might have to try to figure something out, though i think i can fit a somatic 60

Sweet build. FWIW those lights are going to have a very difficult time keeping coral alive with the depth of that tank. Your going to need something more powerful. Just want to see this build successful! Keep it up!
