Better late than never!
here is my 55 gallon build thread-tank has been running for just a tad over a year.
Equpitment:
Mp40x2
Mp10
Eshopps overflow box
Skimz sumpro sump
6 bulb t5 sunpower
Avast Marine K2 kalkstirrer
Apex JR
VorTech m2 return pump
Refugium light
Tunze ato
5 stage brs Rodi unit
Just ordered new apex waiting for it in mail
Honda generator specifically for tank

started with live sand, and 60 pounds of dry rock and 1 pound of live rock. On the 367 day of tank running I finally started seeing coraline growth on walls and plastic! I made the stand myself. Was using red see salt and recently switched over to pro reef, everything has been doing excellent in the tank. I dose kalkwasser from brs, will be adding a skimmer shortly and Chaeto is on the way. As of now I have a pair of black snowflake clowns, mandarin, pajama Cardinal, Cardinal and assorted clean up crew. Can’t wait to continue to add to this tank!

Congratulations on the one year mark! Nice work on the stand and thank you for the pictures! Do you have any idea which skimmer you are planning to get?

You will probably find that everyone has at least one opinion on equipment choices. :)

I am currently running three Reef Octopus skimmers on different systems as well as a Reef Octopus Light Reactor L-150 so obviously I am a #reefoctopus fan. IMO, for a 55g tank a Reef Octopus Classic 110INT would be a good option. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Looking great! I also love RO skimmers- everyone has their favorite toy, but they're the brand I've had some of my best sucsess with. It should be fun setting up your new skimmer and getting your cheato online!

I’m excited to see how the Chaeto does! Haven’t used it in a while! Have a nice grow light mounted so I should be all set! Having a skimmer will be nice!

Some updated corals I recently added to the tank from my frag tank. Also been seeing coraline everywhere growing on portions of rocks, snail shells I wonder how fast it will keep growing. Any thoughts of how fast it grows?

Update on build thread

So I finally got around to making my diy t5 fixture mount and am using 3/4 inch pipe with two 90 degree elbows to connect them waiting for them to dry then will be mounting them this will be very sturdy as well and put me at ease and only cost me 25 dollars Plus once I took off the front main beam I think the tank has a way nicer look thinking I will be leaving it off now. What are y’all thoughts?

I run the same light - w 4 Blue+ 1 Coral+ and 1 Actinic. I also have 2 ReefBrite Lumi Light Pros. Just the par from the 6 bulb ATI was a little crazy at the top of my rock. When combines with the ReefBrite’s I had to move my light up a couple of inches.

All pumps are turned down to minimum, but it’s working out awesome! Everything is happy, bought everything large for this tank we just put our house on the market and I’m upgrading

Hey guys, we are moving here shortly and once I move this tank will be my qt for all fish. My plan for the new tank is something much larger. I’ve been thinking around the 180 to 300 gallon range I found a nice 280 for sale from a friend that comes with refugium, sump, steel stand and tank for a nice price. Tank is new never used. What’s y’all thoughts on a nice tank size? I would like to have a few tangs in this build. I bought way oversized pumps and equipment for this tank knowing I will be upgrading so it won’t be as much of a dent in the wallet as starting fresh lol

If it’s new that sounds pretty awesome to me although that’s going to be expensive to upkeep.
I was also thinking about that as well, electricity for it, salt all those things. I have two 48 inch 6 bulb sunpower fixtures that I think I will run on the tank and have a large ro skimmer so I think I’m off to a decent start with equipment. Three mp40’s, vectra m2 return pump have plenty of live rock for the system as well. I’ve decided I’m also going bare bottom in this tank as well.

Awesome! How was/is the move? Any updates on your new tank? BB is what I will go with from now on. But I just hate the though of keeping wrasses in a BB. I don’t like the litter box idea much.

It’s going! Lol everything is packed up for the most part and in storage unit tank is completely broken down. All livestock is in a 100 gallon Rubbermaid stock tank currently at the girlfriends parents house. It’s hard finding a house at the moment this market is crazy right now. I’m excited to go BB would like this new tank sps dominated for the most part. Been looking at tanks I’m getting excited for this new build!
