I wouldn’t think so but I’m no expert on plastics. Does it say on the bottom what it’s made out of?

Wash it well and use it!

My 55g barrel was, in a previous life, a storage barrel for either photographic developer or fixer. It's been so long I really don't remember. I washed it well and put it in use about 30 years ago. If there was going to be a problem I would think that it would have shown up by now.

I have a few barrels that had tennis court re-surfacer in them. Clean really well and let sit in the sun for a few days. Because of what mine had in it I filled it let it sit a week and dumped it a time or two to make sure. To be safe i grew daphnia in it first then used it for my reef. No issues.
