Hello All! I currently have a 6 month old 55g aquarium! And This weekend I will be moving a 125g 6y/o working mature reef tank to my house. Helping out a neighbor who is wanting to get out of the hobby. Any tips for moving that much water. Only 6 fish but a ton of coral is coming with it. My current idea is to take a 96 gal trashcan. Clean it out and line.it with some new construction trash bags for just moving the water. Tubs and 5 gal buckets for fish and coral obviously. Thoughts or tips?

96 gallons of water is very heavy.

You shouldn't have to move that much water, majority of your good bacteria lives in the substrate and rock. Unless your mission is to not have to make 100+ gallons of water (which I fully understand), I would try to move less. Maybe 50 gallons, which will still weigh roughly 450 pounds.

Yeah I don't want to make 100g of water if i don't have to but trying to move that much water is very difficult haha I want to move that much because I want less stress on the livestock when going back into the tank.

I moved the whole tank! It was a massive job. I think I ended making 80 gals of water but I got a 20 gal container that I used for mixing so not as bad as 5gal buckets haha. Water is still clearing up! Took 2 full days to move it then replace pipping and get it going again.
