Hey Reefers! I don't know why I haven't gotten around to it, but I'm starting this build thread to follow my 60g IM build and progress. I started my reefing journey in 2017 with a 32-gallon biocube (still running, currently housing my OG clownfish and golden cuban basslet, platinum white), and two other smaller nanos. This is my largest tank (Don't laugh, I know some of you have literal oceans in your houses... so awesome btw), so I was excited to have more space for corals and a little more fish variety.
This tank was started at the beginning of 2025 and has been pretty solid. I've got the usual bubble algae, bryopsis, and aptasia, but have recently gotten those under better control. Nothing out of hand (fingers crossed). I try to keep my tanks as equipment-free as possible. The less equipment there is, the less there is to break/malfunction (no skimmer, no dosing pumps, no reactors). For equipment and stocking, see below:
Equipment:
- XR15 G6 Pro x2
- ATO (forget the brand)
- VorTEch MP40mQD
- Whatever 2 return pumps came with the tank
Filtration:
- Filter sock
- Seachem Pond Matrix
- Chemipure Elite Carbon
Livestock:
- Bell's Flasher Wrasse
- Picasso Storm Clownfish Pair
- Yellow Neon Cleaner Goby
- Blue Neon Cleaner Goby
- Red Lined Nano Goby
- Cleaner Shrimp
- Emerald crabs
- Typical cleanup crew
I also have a small clownfish breeding setup on the side. I've always wanted to try my hand at breeding, so I figured, why not? I will update that once in a while on here, once there's some action.
