60g mixed reef Euphyllia not opening as much.

I’ve had my 60g mixed reef tank for about 5 months now I have a decent amount of coral. My problem is that my hammers and Duncan and frog spawn isn’t opening as much as it used to, it still blows up a lot but differently a couple centimeters less in diameter then a couple months ago. I have every test kit but brought my water to the store for testing yesterday just in case I was doing something wrong,
everything in my water is fine, I was recommended to buy one of those carbon bag type things for sucking up toxins and phosphates, even though my phosphates were fine, I have done weekly water changes up until about two weeks ago, where I switched to two weeks, I tested my water yesterday, alittle over a week into the water change, I don’t dose anything, but all my parameters are fine

Nitrates 5-10
Salinity is not low, it gets high somtimes if I’m lazy the most it gets is like alittle above 36ppt I keep it at 35ppt
I’m going to do a 10g water change today alittle over 1 week from the last water change I’ll post a before and after pic of how they used to look and how they look now, also one of my hammers started receding so I lugols dipped it, surprisingly looks better already.

No, I do want to par map my tank tho, any recommendations on an affordable instrument. Also my I haven’t changed mt light ever and my hammers and torches were doing great for like 4 months I’ll post a pic of what they used to look like about a month ago. Once again when I get home I’ll post a pic of the effected ones

Ya I dont think anything has changed besides the fact I was trying to lean off weekly water changes and going bi weekly but I was doing it very slowly adding 1 day extra on weekly water changes and going till it hits 2 weeks. I tried reviving a bubble tip in my 60 it didn’t do so well in my 10g maybe that could have done it, I didn’t start decomposing tho the foot was always attached. 2 acros like 2 inches tall died and like decomposed just left skeleton, I didn’t notice it in time. Also I’m home so I’ll send the pic of the coral as it is now, the coral on the sand was the one that was receding I did a lug old dip and it looks way better surprisingly

Ps the two small hammers on the top of the rock get head butted off by the Midas blenny, glued on.

no, the tail spot wrasse kinda picks at the frag plugs, not the corals, the clowns just started hosting that hammer in the pic so maybe that's why that one is a little smaller, the eel sometimes knocks poorly glued on frag plugs but hasn't locked over any of the Euphyllia. i have a large arrow crab but i closely monitor him and have never seen him eat corals, he has Alot of other stuff to eat.

I just turned the white it my lights up from 10% to 25% for more par I'm running a fluval sea 46 watt Led 36-46 inch marine sea spectrum. yesterday lfs suggested chemi-pure elite all in one filter media, i don't have a all in one tho just a tank with a separate protine skimmer and filter in tank(tunze) (no sump) so i just put it behind a rock in the back of the tank. hopefully that was smart???:? should i open the filter and switch this for the floss and sock i have in there?? or should i just leave it on the sand in the back of the tank. SOMONE PLEASE CHIME IN ON THIS. thank you

So do you have like a hang on back filter with built in skimmer that is the Tunze? And you just put the media bag behind the rocks? Is that correct?

idk what there called, i explained it to the guy who works at the lfs and he told me to put it behind a rock, this is my protein skimmer and filter there in the tank.
now that you say it it sounds stupid but the guy who sold it to be told me to do that.

Im sure it can absorb some but I thought really only was truly effective if water is running through it like in a chamber of some sort.

But if you changed your lighting like you said above id revert it back and try to get a read of par. You can try the photone app on the phone its "okay"

Id see if you can borrow a meter or rent one. It could also be too much flow if its only happening in front of a wave maker

Problem is corals decline from the inside out so it can be weeks or multiple months before they show the outward signs of distress. A 5 month tank is typically still unstable and in the ugly phases so sustaining corals like euphyllia becomes difficult.

Renting a par meter was the best thing I have ever done for my tank.

Trying to diagnose this issue without knowing phosphate numbers is far from ideal.

My frogspawn takes the longest time to come back around after its gotten mad.
