Hello everyone, my name is Dominic, and I'd like to share with you my new peninsula tank. It's going to be a mixed reef tank, with majority of LPS corals.

Equipment:
  • 60g tank 90x50x50cm (~35x20x20")
  • external overflow with pipes: 32mm main, 32mm return, and 40mm emergency
  • 28g sump, 3 chambers: 1st outlets + skimmer (and rollermat in future), 2nd media, 3rd return pump
  • T-slot 3030 aluminium stand
  • 3kg Maxspect BioSpheres in sump
  • 100W heater
  • Maxspect Jump MJ-DC8K, set to around 6000LPH (1600GPH)
  • RedStarfish RS-N130 Plus skimmer
  • 2 x Octo Pulse 4 (to be replaced)
  • LED DIY Light (in progress)
  • 5kg of 1-2mm Colombo sand and 3kg of 1-2mm Blue Treasure sand
Life (waiting for new home):
  • 2 x Clown fish
  • Tail Spot Blenny
  • Lysmata Kuekenthali
  • ~20 x Turbo snail
  • ~30 x Nassarius
  • 2 x Trochus sp.
  • Cerithium Caeruleum
  • 3 x Euphyllia paraancora
  • Galaxea
  • Blastomussa
  • 5 different species of Zoas
  • Briareum
  • Anthelia
  • Red mushrooms
  • Green Rhodactis mushrooms
  • Orange Ricordea mushrooms
Currently tank is driven by 1500gph from return pump + 2 x Octo Pulse 4 running on minimal setting, about 1400gph each. Unfortunately it is hard for sand to stay in one place, and it's too stormy in the tank. I guess light and roomy construction from rocks doesn't help as well. So, I'm looking for some recommendations about flow and propellers. I was thinking about 2 x Tunze 6095 but I'm not sure if their wide flow will be a good option here. Maybe it would work with some additional gyre pump on a front side(?). The other option could be 2 x AI Nero 5 but they are not cheap and can't be controlled with 0-10V what I'd like to try in the future.

Let me know your thoughts, thanks!

Sweet scape!

Option 1: Ditch the sand and keep the flow.
Option 2: Swap out the sand for something more coarse and keep the flow.
Option 3: Keep the sand and turn down the flow.

Do you have a coral preference in the long term? Softies, LPS, SPS, acropora?

Personally I would keep all pumps and wavemakers off the front and sides for esthetics.
