6x2x2

And most people assume that Im tanks are like other mass-produced tanks. It's rare to find someone that's owned one and doesn't like the quality.

Not necessarily a concern. But thinking logically 2k is better than 3k. Do you think 3 15s would be OK over a 6x2x2 vs the 6x30"x21"?
What other recommendations for either dimensions?

Xr15s on a 2-ftx2 ft section are going to give you enough par for LPS and soft. Maybe SPS right under the water. They are not very good power and bang for your buck. For a similar price you could get a reefi Uno 2 and it has almost three times the power.

I have the IM 170. Bottom to surface is 19". They are very nice systems for the money, imo.
The 30" front to back makes up for the 21.7" vs 24" tall tanks.
You most likely won't even notice the 2.3" difference.

tanks looking great! I picked up a Orphek finally. nice light.

Thought about buying a standard Marineland 180? Then drilling yourself and putting an external overflow on it? Can save a bunch of money doing it that way.

Grats on that. I just ordered the eshopps mariner 180 and its being dropped off thursday. Im thinking maybe the nicrew lights. 150s or 200s. Altho i love kessils which is what i have now

Glass Cages pricing is disappointing. I couldn’t even consider them. I went with IM which was 1/2 the price for 3/4” glass, tank, stand, sump, plumbing, and even a screen lid + good return pump. You’ll get used to the 22” height, and the 30” width is so much better than a standard 180g. One word of caution, the tank is like 470lbs dry. You’ll need a lot of help.

Glass cages has some of the best support and customization options that you can find, and excellent build quality.

They're not cheap, though, and the shipping cost can be very scary

Make sure to contact them and see if they have any bundle options - that can often be a way to save money through them.

I went with Planet Aquariums for my most recent build due to them being local and having zero shipping cost, but it was a really tough choice

Agreed that glasscages is the way to go. The glasscages bundles include shipping, and pretty much any custom size you'd want. Plus when I talked to joe he offered to change sizes here and there and keep it bundle priced. Definitely worth it.

Love IM so far! Ordered Monday, received email it's being checked in Cali and will be ready to ship soon!
Now I need to finalize lighting. 3, 4 radion 15s with a reefbrite quad hybrid?
