Hello:

I currently have a 72" 135g mixed reef tank with Gen 1 Reefbreeders 30" x 2 lights over it.

I'm looking to upgrade, and I think I'm fairly convinced at getting the Aquatic Life T5 hybrid along with the Radion line.

My question is - what size? I assume the 61" fixture is too small, so would I optimally use the 36" fixtures x 2? Or 30" fixtures x 2?

Additionally, I've seen recommendations to use the XR15s in lieu of the XR30s. However, I'm not sure I fully agree, or at least understand this.

I have a large glass center brace on my tank which I have to periodically clean and does ultimately diffuse a fair amount of light. Current mix of Coral is probably 50/50 lps/sps - maybe 25/75 in the future as a max.

Appreciate any input.

The choice of the 15 or the 30 is strictly based on the par you want and spread over the tank. Ie how many leds do you have and do you want a clam on the sand.( 150-200 par. )

If you have 4 15s and 4 t5 mounted 8-12 in above the tanks it’s probably fine for a mixed reef in a 24in deep tank. (100 par on the sand)

Basically just take a best guess on fitmemt and length. You’ll have a minor dip under the brace. NBD generally.

Just got done watching a BRS vido where they go into extreme detail about your exact issue. Look up BRS 52 week on youtube. I believe the lighting episodes are around week 20 or so. That will have all of the info you need to a T

Thank you!
Eh... I'm not sure these answer my questions. I'm specifically looking to see if people are using the 61" unit or two 36" units over their 72" tanks, and of that, how many radions (XR15/XR30) and why?

I just upgraded my 4 xr30 pro’s with the aquatic life. Just went with the 61” unit. Plenty of light hits the edges. I like the 4 pros so I’m flooded with light, especially when I have the T5 lamps off.

This isn't exactly like your situation but I use a 24" fixture over my 36" cube with two xr30's mounted perpendicular to the T5s. There is plenty of light on the edges.
