I’m finally upgrading my Innovative Marine 14 gallon peninsula. It’s been running for 3 years, so planning to break it down is a bit bittersweet. But, it’s time.

We’re moving on up to a 40 breeder with a 20 long sump! And a whole lot of diy. So far, I have built the stand, installed the Fiji Cube baffles into my sump. Got a loooooong ways to go. I think next up will be putting together an electronics/equipment panel and drilling/plumbing.

Thank you both! Let’s hope it stays good lol. 40b’s are my favorite dimensions.

The current plan is to get it built, get it cycling. Once cycled I’ll move everything but my acro rock and let it run. I’m going to be dipping that rock and keeping it qt’d until I’m positive there are no more aefw or their eggs.

Got just about all of my plumbing! Black pipe, grey fittings. All 1”. Just waiting on the reducer, locline and rfg. I ‘think’ there’s a Fiji Cube 800gph overflow under the Christmas tree. Haha. Also got a nice picture of my button scoly eating a little bit of frozen food today.

Welp, I got to open up a present early and got the overflow box out. Wife helped me drill the tank yesterday. Pretty easy, just let the drill do the work sort of thing. I’m using the Fiji Cube lopro 800gph. I was worried I wouldn’t get the water level I wanted from what I’ve seen posted around the internet about people having to “modify” their tank’s rims to make everything fit. I wasn’t about to do that. Reading the instructions that came with the box gave me a bit of a duh moment however. They include an extra gasket to space the box so that it fits over the rim, then says to trim said gaskets if necessary to fit them under the rim. Scratching my head over why seemingly every one else would rather hack up their tank.
Painted the tank, it’s drying out in the garage. A little annoying that I couldn’t get all the way under the rim with a pointy sponge, but hopefully not something I’ll notice while it’s running.

It’s also been 21 days since I’ve spotted an aefw in the 14. I’ll start getting excited once we’re past 30.

It’s all blacked out now
Going to build my little side table/equipment panel in the next few days. Keeping it simple, styled similar to the stand.

I’ve had this chalice for a long time, fragged it once. Love the pink/yellow-green.

Looks amazing! What lights are you going to run?

I might try and convince my wife to upgrade to the 40B or an IM 50 lagoon this year.
Thank you! I’m annoyed with the paint lol. Some that is under the rim hasn’t dried yet.

I’m looking at the reefbreeders photon v2+ 32 right now

Side/controller table is all done until it’s time to put some wire holes into the panel. I don’t have alllll of the equipment yet so I gotta wait on that.

Merry Christmas!
Got the plumbing cut and dry fit. Going to glue it all up tomorrow, and stop by HD to get some plastic supports. Kept it simple. I do not foresee adding anything to it in the future. I’m used to not having a ton of things running in a tank thanks to my little nano lol.

Nice work so far! The 40b with the 20L sump is a great form factor because it allows you so many options in the future!

One thing I would suggest is adding a tee to your return so you can run whatever off of it in the future.
Oh man I do not want to wait for that delivery lol. I think I have a good spot between the elbow and union that I could chop and add fairly easily.

Thank you! We’re getting there. Im excited and terrified to get the 14 moved over.

I got me a box of rocks this morning! Picked through what my lfs had, left with just over 50lb. Four of them are the foundation type of rock, cut flat on one side. Scaping this tank should be fun, but also a little anxious how I’ll make the 14’s rock fit in. Worst case scenario I can put it in the sump and frag off of it I suppose.

Finished up the plumbing today! Having the tank essentially ready to run (pending leak test) has a load of stress/anxiety off. Now I can spend how ever long it takes to get the scape figured out and for wavemakers/lights to magically appear at my doorstep!
