I’m not sure why I made this thread but I think only to be fair and share an experience (n=1).

After the whole LA going down few months ago we saw them come right back. I used to order from them many, many years ago but stopped when their quality dropped.

They had a sale on tangs few weeks ago and the prices were actually pretty decent. Not knowing what I was thinking I jumped on the opportunity to purchase a clown tang that was listed as large (>5”). I didn’t expect much but given the price I said I’ll gamble just to see what this “new” LA sends me.

Order actually arrived pretty decently packed. I’m in Chicago and the winter has been cold. The fish was not large in fact it was just about 4”. I did email them and they apologized and gave me partial store credit. Not sure if this is their new business tactic.

The fish went through peroxide and methylene blue bath and straight into copper for a month. He has actually done well and has eaten well through QT. He is now in observation and getting fatter. Clown tangs can be finicky in my experience and this one sailed through QT.

I may be playing Russian roulette but this was a good experience. I don’t know if I’ll buy from LA again. If I do, I will post here again.

In QT when I got him - you can see fish arrived healthy and doesn’t appear malnourished.

You are our brave LiveAquaria canary in the coal mine!

Nice looking fish, though, I must say. Will you be ordering again (double or nothing)? 🎲🎲
lol
I always convince myself not to. However I just might. I will say I 100% fully, thoroughly quarantine my fish.

I bought from a reputable online “QT fish” seller (not giving names, not the purpose of this thread) a few months ago and got terribly burned.

For me now, all online sellers with the exception of FishHotel are the same. Every fish will go through QT and then observation and then if they pass then into my tanks. At this point LA is on the same page as the QT fish specialist.

I'm pretty much bowling perfect strikes buying from Reef Beauties and QTing all my fish; give them a try if something catches your eye. They seem to strive to do things differently, in a good way. Best wishes on your Clown Tang.

Thanks for the report. I know everyone has been supper spooked about ordering from them after the whole "thing" Glad it worked out. You got a good looking tang there!

You are lucky. Not many people have a success story dealing with LA these days.
And when you say this issue with them was just a few months ago, in reality, it's been going on for several years.
I wouldn't press your luck. Just count yourself lucky.
