Thank you everyone!

We were very fortunate to find our Regal in a small LFS. She was a juvenile and had been in the store for 3 months. The owner had her eating anything he offered, including romaine lettuce on a clip, LOL.

We chose this species for the spotlight because it is quite shocking to see the number of failed attempts at keeping this awesome fish. Hopefully, we've provided some insight that will help others succeed.

A funny story about romaine... We had always fed nori or other dried algae on a clip to our fish. Since we knew the Regal liked romaine lettuce, we decided to place some on a clip for her in our DT. Our other fish (including our Desjardini) looked at it as some foreign substance best left alone. In the meantime, the Regal had the full-service salad bar to herself for 3 consecutive days. Finally, the Desjardini couldn't stand it any longer and had to give it a try, soon afterwards, everyone else followed. They now will eat romaine, red leaf and green leaf lettuces with gusto, LOL. And when I say everyone, I do mean everyone. Angels, tangs, wrasses, clowns, anthias, borbonias, and yes, even our blue-green chromis.

We should mention if you are going to feed this type of lettuce to blanch it before adding to the tank.

Where can you buy them? No one ever has them.. lol

They come up on LA Diver's Den and Pacific Island Aquatics fairly regularly and I believe Blue Zoo has one now.

Bought one for 70.00 dollars, did not eat for the first two days so I was worry, but after that he start to eat pellets, flakes, and mysis shrimp, kept him in QC for next 7 days. Transfer him to my 144 gallon reef tank with my yellw tang, purple tang, and my beautiful chevron tang.
