Loving the guide thank you so much. I do have a question though, on your write up I saw the ab+ is there a way we can import that map over? If so where did you get it from?
I just received the s8 pro blue and will be trying it out on my lps WB25. Im waiting for my par meter before I actually use it.
Thanks

The AB+ template showed by default in the app once I connected the lights. I'll see if there's a way to export it and drop it here.

Yea,
The app is missing some creature comforts like that and things like playing your timeline so it goes trough the whole thing in 2min to check it.

Its working, been testing set time for a little while now. Kinda annoying that I have to update the time each time I log back in to check. Other wise next to the hydra 26 it looks 100 times better. Just waiting on the par meter now to check par before using it and adjusting height.
This light is craxy! Im adjusting the intensity and at like 30 or 40 percent it seems to be as bright as the hydra.

If the time is being updated every time you link to the light, it's because you have the wrong time zone set in your account. If you tap the "My" button at the bottom of the app, there is an option to set your time zone. When the time zone setting matches your phone's time, your app will always have the correct time and won't need to update.

Yes I kinda figured adjusted and now just now I logged in to test and I dont get the update anymore. Going to do a few days of a dry test run to make sure it working. Waiting on par meter before I actually use it.

There was an update done for the Android app yesterday...I don't know what they fixed. However, based on my experience once you update the time once, you can ignore the screen that prompts to update it again.

In the manual I made a note regarding the issue with the timezone and daylight savings see if that solves the issue.

I just installed two the A8 Pro II today. The app is a pain, however there should be an option on you profile menu to set language to English.
Have you guys been able to get the AI Pai app for the light to be installed on an Android phone? My Google pixel phone keeps telling me that the app does not meet Android security standards and will not be installed.
I scan the QR code and follow the link to download the app as it's not available on the Google Play store.
When I run the install I get an Android security warning that it does not meet Android security standards and the app will not be installed. Don't know how to get around this

Yes, I had the same issue. Once you download it, you need to Enable the option to allow to install from unknown sources under your system security settings.
Then you might run into an additional error saying that the app was created for an older version, but there will be a small button that looks more like a message that said something around the lines of "install anyway", and you should be able to install it.

.

The app is NOT intuitive at all and it took me a while to figure out, but eventually I got it.
I was planning on making a video on how to do it, but it was a hazard to get it to where I wanted LOL
Dis you checked the Manual I uploaded for the app? Just look A8 Reef Light guide.

As the defacto expert I'm curious if you've seen this error. I get it after installing the light and then trying to connect again some time later. I can't seem to ever control the light again after this message.

That error means the light is not connected. It happens from time to time, personal experience. Just be sure you're connected to your Wife 2.4Ghz . If it doesn't work, try reset it the light and adding it again.

Ok I think it has to do with how I've been working around that. I have been suspending the other bands for 10 minutes on my router when setting them up. However even when I resuspens it and open the apps I still can't seem to connect again.

Do you have separate networks for your 2.4g and 5g bands, each with their own name and password? I use a separate 2.4g network with no special characters in the password for all my 2.4g devices, including this light.

On another note, I have not been able to reconnect to my light after a power cycle. I have to delete it from the app and readd it with the wifi password before I can use it again. After a power failure yesterday, I opened the light, tested the small coin battery, and found it completely dead. It's a CR1220, which is very uncommon IME, so I ordered some new ones. Hopefully this will maintain the settings during power loss and allow it to continue working without my help.

If your wifi goes down for any reason, the light(s) will disconnect and they have to be added manually which is one of the things I found out and it js really annoying. I hope that eventually the manufacturer updates the drive of the lights so they remember the configuration, but that's juts a dream lol.

Same here. If the power goes down and the lights turned off, or your wifi goes down, you'll have to go through the process of adding the lights and reconnecting the lights again, which is really, really inconvenient. The good thing is that it looks like even though the lights disconnect on any those events, at least the schedule remains saved in the lights itself, so that's a plus.

I have never had that problem. I have rebooted my network, had short power outages and turned the lights off plenty of times with my hydros shutting off power and have never had to add them back. they always come right back on and go right back to the programming like nothing happened.

Last time my network went down, the blue light of the buttons on top of the lights started blinking, and I couldn't connect to the lights. However, there was an update done to the app a few weeks back and maybe that fixed it.
I have to disconnect the lights in a few days to connect the system to my battery backup, so I'll let you know how it goes. All fingers crossed, I don't have to reconnect them again.

I just wanted to add on here that I could not get these light to turn on after setting the schedule. I eventually realized that the time at the bottom of the schedule were never right even when I set the correct time zone. So for me when I have the lights set to turn on at 3am it’s actually my 9am. Maybe this will help someone else:)

If you go to the main settings, you can set your timezone. Then when you connect to the lights you tap the time and update it and it shouls give you the correct time. There have been a couple of updates after I wrote the guide but the overall functionality remained the same, tho.

So try setting the timezone first, and then when you connect to the light tap the time (if the app doesn't ask you first) and you should be fine. The correct time might not should after you tap to correct it, but just close the app and open it again and the time at the top should be fine, then you can ignore the update time message if it shows again. I hope that helps.
