If you go to the main settings, you can set your timezone. Then when you connect to the lights you tap the time and update it and it shouls give you the correct time. There have been a couple of updates after I wrote the guide but the overall functionality remained the same, tho.

So try setting the timezone first, and then when you connect to the light tap the time (if the app doesn't ask you first) and you should be fine. The correct time might not should after you tap to correct it, but just close the app and open it again and the time at the top should be fine, then you can ignore the update time message if it shows again. I hope that helps.
Yes I tried that but unfortunately that didn’t work for me

Oh man, I'm sorry to hear that. That's the way I have mine setup. I guess every light has its own little issues. Mine doesn't reconnect if I lose Internet.

Have you guys been able to get the AI Pai app for the light to be installed on an Android phone? My Google pixel phone keeps telling me that the app does not meet Android security standards and will not be installed.
I scan the QR code and follow the link to download the app as it's not available on the Google Play store.
When I run the install I get an Android security warning that it does not meet Android security standards and the app will not be installed. Don't know how to get around this
I have installed the app successfully. You need to turn the security off and allow to download the app manually.

First time poster to the forums. I got an A8se light from Aliexpress but the app either doesn’t work or it is just beyond my scope. I even have my friend here to translate the mandarin for me and I’m still lost. I tried using the auto settings and the presets but when I select one I have no idea how to turn it on so it’s set to that preset? If I press the button on the light itself it turns on but god only knows what settings it’s on or what intensity or time. Any advice or help is appreciated
Hi I have the same light but lost the manual with the QR code...can you share...? Thanks.

Well, I can't seem to edit my post -
Scan failed repeatedly after adding the light to the app, so it wouldn't detect any wifi networks, and wouldn't proceed further
To resolve this issue. Flight mode ON
WiFi ON
(Still not working)

Restart Phone
Works instantly

Hi Everyone,

I had the time and finished PDF guide to get the A8 Lights. Here you go. I hope it helps you or someone else in need.
You sir, are a saint. Thank you!!
Hi, thanks a lot, I really appreciate it.
If you have issues upgrading to the newer app version, I published a version 2 on the guide about a month ago with updates and some additional translations.

Thanks, again

@racsoh I am having issues, but am working through them. Update: Solved!

Couldn't connect to light via app. Specifically, connecting my phone to the light via WIFI for initial "add device".

Turned out I needed to disable a privacy setting on Android. Gemini helped get me there:

1. The "Device MAC" Override (Most Likely Fix)

The Pixel 8 Pro hides its real identity (MAC address) by default. Many IoT devices like the A8 light block these "fake" randomized addresses during setup.

  1. Open Settings > Network & internet > Internet.
  2. Find Saved networks (at the bottom) and tap it.
  3. Find ALight-xxxx. (If it's not there, try to connect once so it appears in the "Saved" list, even if it fails).
  4. Tap the Pencil/Gear icon next to ALight-xxxx.
  5. Tap Privacy.
  6. Change it from Use randomized MAC to Use device MAC.
  7. Important: Now select ALight-xxxx to connect again.
I had airplane mode on in a prior debug step, not sure if that helped.

App has changed a lot, can't find "Set time zone" anymore btw. It later asked me if i want to update light to my timezone and it worked flawlesly. I think they improved the app a lot since your guide was initially written.

Here's the kicker, i have eero 6e which doesn't split 5ghz and 2.4ghz. It connected to my wifi perfect regardless though! It's working!

Update: Spoke too soon, its asking me to set the time every time i open the device. It's now not connecting. LOL. I will keep playing around with it and report back.

What settings or preset is everyone running? Well any suggestions for moving over to sps from a LPS dominated?

I’ve been using these lights for a few years. I have 3 a7 2, 2 a8 se blue and 2 of there ato’s. Everything disappeared from app today. Both locally and remotely on Wi-Fi. Did they go out of business?

What version of the app are you running. It might be that, but I don't really have an answer.
I just checked mine and they showed up fine.

It’s back up. All my devices are back and there was an actual app update in a pop message upon opening that sent me to the Apple App Store. Although my devices were already back before update.

Huge relief.
