Wow! This is one of the most insane builds I've ever seen...and I've seen a lot of crazy builds over the years. But, I've never seen someone build a GIANT tank on the floor of the garage! I guess you could call it a pond? Great work though

Well it took 3 tries to get the skimmer running. I bought this skimmer knowing it had a crack in the return line. This crack was so much harder to repair than I anticipated. For now I am keeping the skimmer right there in front of the TV just so that I can monitor it and learn how it works. Once I’m comfortable and confident with it I’ll move it outside and plumb it in. This skimmer has an unknown rating, but a few people I’ve talked to that own it say it’s good up to 4,000 gallon systems. It holds 15 gallons of water, it’s a beast!

I strongly suggest qtung ur fish. It would suck to have 50 fish in there and to have a velvet/ich break out

I do agree with you. But when I’m ordering 20 fish at a time, how would I QT that many? It’s not like I order 1 fish a month you know. So I’m kind of at a crossroads right now

For the last decade I’ve had a career where I’m gone a week at time. I’ve learned how to have a successful reef even though I leave for 7 days at a time. I set my system up in a way where all that needs to be done is feedings while I’m gone. Also, The Apex allows me to shut things off if something goes wrong.

Water changes will be 275 monthly.

Here’s the sump so far.

Are you a long-haul pilot? Just curious, with the one week gone, three weeks home. Also, this thing is just incredible!
