So my acans look kinda receded and losing color are they dying? Ive had em for around 5 days
Calcium-480ppm
Kh-10dkh
Phosphates-0ppm
Nitrates-0ppm

I'm not a water chemistry expert, but I have ten or so acan frags growing out at the moment that are all doing fairly well. I keep my nutrients a tad higher (2.5-5ish ppm nitrates) and alk lower (7.5-8dkh).

It might not have anything to do with why they are receding, but I figured I would throw it out there for comparison purposes.

They also do surprisingly well in pretty direct light. Mine are getting around 200 par on the rock I have them on (bottom of tank, but off the sand)

You could try maybe spot feeding them to see if it helps coax them out. I wouldn't go overboard though, since digesting food takes a lot of energy as well.

Do you have any fish nipping at them? When I got my first couple frags of Acans they looked like that. Turns out it was my Flame Angle picking at them. So I took the fish back to the LFS and my Acans have been growing a lot. Also feed them at least twice a week. Acans are always hungry.

Do you have any fish nipping at them? When I got my first couple frags of Acans they looked like that. Turns out it was my Flame Angle picking at them. So I took the fish back to the LFS and my Acans have been growing a lot. Also feed them at least twice a week. Acans are always hungry.

Ive been feeding them every other day and i currently have a bangai cardinal and a coral beauty angelfish im not sure if the angelfish is the cause

Well i believe my nitrates were at 0 because before they were really high and they were killing everything so i got sponges and nitrate remover and a 25% water change

I feel like my lighting is too strong? I have a 160w maxspect 420r but the max is 35 whites 45 blues

How long did it take for them to drop? How high were theym

They were at atleast 160ppm when i checked so i immediately got the sponges and stuff and checked the nitrates 4 days after

But, I do agree you should have SOME nitrate. Not high, but detectable. It's a tight rope, for sure.

Edit. Ah, did the nitrates drop that much while the acans were in the tank? What other corals do you have, anything else react after you brought them down?

That's pretty fast for 160 ppm nitrate drop to 0. That's a huge difference.
I would test nitrates again.

Ive been wanting to sell him or get him out kf the tank but im not sure how to catch him

What did you use for nitrate remover?

I used a nitrate remover sponge which also removes nitrites and ammonia and also got seachem de nitrate remover which also removes organics
