I received a small acan via an online order, and it looks like the skeleton is showing on one side. It looks like it has feeder tentacles out, so I assume it is doing ok in the location it is in, but I am wondering if this skeleton showing is something that it can recover from, or if that portion is just dead and gone? will it still grow and thrive?

Totally normal. That’s likely just from fragging. As long as the actual polyp you received is healthy it’ll grow over it and pop out new babies. Might not even see it once it settles in and puffs up.

Every micromussa I’ve ever bought had some exposed skeleton from neighboring polyps that were sawn through during fragging. They grow quickly and will grow over and/or through the exposed skeleton in no time. Just watch for algae or pests on the exposed skeleton.
