Have a acantho and cant figure out what is going on with it. Want to nip it in the bud before it gets worse. It has been plump and good for 6 months, very circular in shape. Now the left side is deflating.

Cannot find anything wrong with the tank, parameters or livestock. Everything in the tank has been quarantined, coral has all been dipped in bayer and observed and qt for 50 days before introduction.

This tank has been up a few months, this coral was transfered from an established 100 gallon. Only issue is that it went into a new tank, but the parameters for both tanks are very similar.

Alk 9.5 dkh
Ph 8.1
Phos 0.02
Nitrate 11
Calcium 407
Mg 1509
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Salinity is 1.027
Temp is 79
Par is 110

Livestock
Royal Gramma
Possum Wrasse
Barnacle Blend
Clownfish
Yasha Goby
Fire shrimp
Cleaner shrimp
Snails

While I have never had an acanthophyllia, this could be a lighting issue. Specifically too much light where it reflects off the glass at the coral. Have you taken a par reading of this tank? Also too much flow is something to look at if it is cranked up.

Its 100-110 par depending on the angle right there, didnt think of reflection on the glass... flow cant be too bad there but ill dial it down anyways

Hopefully someone else can chime in too. If it were mine, I’d try moving it back and rotating it around to see if that side opens back up. Then it’d kinda give a clue if it’s a tank issue or not. The only other thing I can think of is pests or fish bothering it. I hope it gets back to normal for ya soon.

I seriously doubt its a pest. I have a two tank qt system for corals. I dipped in bayer and put it in a coral qt tank for 60 days. Then a small tank i have with damsels, six lines, mollies, and a yellow corris wrasse. Then I dip again before going into a tank.

The fish are super calm and tiny, this isn't in a large system. but ill keep an eye on them as well

I believe it's just adjusting to your light, I usually run only blues (low output) for a week or two until you can see a better reaction
