Acclimation box for tang

Is this okay for an acclimation box? 13.6 in x 5.5 in x 5.1 in size. I'm will try to introduce a chocolate tang to an established purple tang sometimes next week

Well, how about excluding the tang police policies and guidelines. Will it work for a few days?

Go to Home Depo or Lowes, buy a big sheet of the type of plastic grating (usually white) used as a diffuser in a light fixture, and cut it with wire snips into pieces. Attach the pieces together with plastic cable ties and you can make your own >much bigger< box than that to acclimate your tang than that.

I’ve only had experience with purpose built acclimation boxes which aren’t much different in size. The recommendations I’ve always gotten is put the troublesome established fish in the acclimation box, as it is already settled in and eating, and let the new fish establish some territory and be able to hide if it likes rather than being front and center

Not sure how feasible it is to catch the purple tang though

I've thought about doing that. I'm guessing it is one those plastic egg crates. I read somewhere that those can hurt the fish, I may be mistaken.

Yeah I agree as well. Purple tang is aggresive fellow. I dont know if mine are because he is the only tang I have. Plus with all the rockscape in there I have not chance catching him unless using a trap. So i might have to resort to mirror and acclimation and re-scaping some rockworks. Maybe it'll work

I acclimated my fox face with a mirror. Both the powder blue and purple were obessesd with the mirror for days.

Moving rockwork helped a lot too

Yes add a good size mirror. Hang it over the side midway of tank. I always use a slightly magnified mirror. That way always looks like a bigger tang they will pay more attention to. Ive done this for years when adding same species tangs. In my 200G right now I have powder blue, purple, yellow, hippo, blonde naso, and sohal.
It works.
