I have found a few small problems that may be the reason for no growth.
I just test all params
Alk-138/7.72dkh(was 149/8.34dkh on the 9/30/13)
Cal-440
Phosphate-.08ppm
Mag-1290
PH-8.2

-I need to get Alk up,but thats alot more demand than i was getting.
-Mag is low so i will bump it up to 1350-1400
-Phosphate is a little high, will try to get it down to .03

Remember to watch you calcium when you up your alkalinity and it's best to dose up your magnesium before dosing the others.

The Hanna could be off as much as. 02 if I remember correctly.

Guess I should of said the phosphate Hanna.

I will get some MAG sometime this week to get that back up and i bump the alk doser to 30seconds of each hour for 10hours(5ml). BRS calculator says i need 30ml a day but i will test again tomorrow to see how much it dropped again.
Cal doser is still at 10sec dose for 10hours(1ml).

You may want to wait on dosing until you have the magnesium. The problem with low magnesium is the tanks inability to sustain higher alkalinity and calcium.

Will it hurt the corals for the alk to keep dropping? It will be tomorrow before i get some Mag.

You can go to get Epsom Salts at any Drug store to raise your Mag up just do not use it all the time as it will raise Boron levels if i remember right. Should be able to find a dose chart on the net.

I am getting some brs 2part magnesium this afternoon. I plan on bringing my Mag from 1290 up to 1350-1400. I will bring it up over a couple of days to not shock anything.

The alk dtopping on its own won't hurt them near as much as bringing it up too fast.

That is to high for a target mag, 1300-1320 is good.

Some people would argue that your mag of 1290 is high or perfect

You can maintain an sps tank with kalk only plenty of people do it. Bart had an sps tank with only kalk. My tank odds fine with only kalk.

Yesterday's alk
7.72dkh(dosed 5ml)
Today's alk
7.95dkh(adjusted alk to 2.5ml)

I dosed 600ml of 2part mag today to raise it 50ppm(per brs calculator).

Tested mag(salifert)
1290-1320(0-30ppm gain).

I get the par meter in 2-3weeks to verify the proper par level.

I will test again tomorrow to zero in the proper amount to dose for alk and verify mag levels.

I am determine to overcome this issue one way or another :)

I run mine between 1300-1400 and have no issues.
