Thanks Ryan, i have read alot that people keep their mag at the same level as your saying, so i feel pretty confident in having my mag goal at 1350.

That's my goal, 1350 +/- 50. Mine is usually closer to 1400. ALK 8.5 CAL 450 and I run bio-pellets

Thats the type of params im looking for, maybe a bit less alk(8.2).

I've had my ALK up at 9 and things looked awesome. I was previously running it between 7.8-8.2 but now my goal is 8.5-9.0 after seeing how great things looked when it spiked that high one time.

Im too worried about burning tips at higher alk levels or i would raise it higher.

9dKH would be the maximum I would consistently run in an SPS dominant tank and IMO would be fine.

I will keep that in mind, but will start on the low side(8.0-8.2) and maybe one day get the nerve up to raise it up to a higher alk #

I thought I needed to run a lower ALK until I traveled one day for work and my dosing pump stayed on and raised it to 12dKh... I expected to come home to a wiped out tank but everything looked awesome. Ever since I run mine closer to 9

Over the weekend i dosed 1200ml of brs 2part mag. I dosed 600ml over a few hours friday and another 600ml sunday over a few hours.
Salifert mag test-1350

I can now scratch low mag off the list of culprits.
Still have to work on:
-lowering phosphates
-checking nitrates
-checking par
-adding flow
-stabilizing params

I have notice some peeling of skin from couple acros. Its not at the tip or base. I turned down red/pink, green/cyan, 6.5k/10k, UV/violet roughly 10%.

My terra del fuego has slowly receded from the center of the frag to the edges. 80%gone

Strawberry shortcake has lost all color and no polyps. Its getting high flow and lights but is a off pink/brown color. Surrounded by colorful acros doing very well.

Still got lots of work to do to get back on track toward having a successful growing acro tank.

Greg i know this might not be the problem but I notice that you bought Corals from Mr. coral before and I did to what I notice is my Mr. Corals frag are not growing they are still small and taking forever to grow and all the frags that I got from local club members and known vendors are all growing fast so I think it has to do with mr coral frags been fresh cut mariculture corals that's my believe. But that's what I'm going through. His frags are small to begin with most being not even half inch

Lol I only had about 5-10 out 30 survive. I have nearly 40 acros from several vendors

I he making you buy more to get your replacements. If I was u I won't get them I'm 100% sure they are mariculture fresh cuts.

Nope im not paying for any replacments or anything. Might get hit with the shipping but i working on getting that waived too

Pardon my jump in here but I've been reading this thread and there is some very good information and some I wouldn't listen too. You are getting enough light from the LED's, possibly too much. I keep a SPS tank and am trying to get better growth as well which is why I'm tagging along. My frags usually encrust first (I'd say a month is about right) and then begin to grow out. 50% of the time they grow from the base and not the frag itself.

Anyways, you've been looking at all these complex dosing rituals and I'm not sure that your probem is that specific at this point. Not meaning to sound condisending but sometimes when all else fails, its good to go back to basics.

Is there a chance you have metal that is rusting somewhere in your tank?
How about your tempature control?
Is the TDS in your RO/DI close to zero?
What type of salt are you using?

-No metal that im aware of, and i hope that there isnt
-temp control by apex jr(4-4" fans in canopy and 12"box fan blowing on return section sump. 250watt heater
-rodi, 0tds on meter
-regular red sea salt
