I received a frag of the Jason Fox Fox Flame today and I have a placement question. MY ideal spot is on the peak 2.25” below the surface. The other peak is doable and 6.25” below the surface. Is this thing going to be cramped with only 2.25” to grow up? Should I do the 6.25” spot?

That is a nice piece of Flame.

Yeah I would give it some room to reach up. I have a bunch of stuff growing out of the water rather unsuccessfully.

I was blown away by the size of it for the price I paid.

@Vivid Aquariums had a live sale Saturday. I bookmarked three things I liked and told myself not to do it. (This, a Goni and a Tubinaria) When I checked back on Sunday they were still available and had an after sale discount as well. It’s sitting on a .75” frag plug for reference.

mine is closer to the bottom of my tank about 26 inches under my radions. Growing and nice color

I dont know about your lighting. But mine really likes where it is so I left it.I know it gets quite a bit of light. Curious on what my par is so I'll have to get the club par meter and see

I need to rent a par meter. I have an “educated guess” based on two very similar tanks with the same lights and height above the water.

Very nice frag! I would put it on the lower structure so it has room to grow. In fact if I were you I would consider re-doing the area where it is so close to the surface. Only tabling or plating corals can go there, and they will shade whatever is below them, so you are losing a lot of potential real estate there. My FF does well in PAR anywhere from 250 to over 600. The mother colony in my DT is at around 500, but it looks the same as the mother colony in my growout system which is around 350.
