clowns i think rick meant a dosing system/regimen and/or calcium reactor, i myself just dose daily...25 ml reefcode a and b everyday.....just bought a bubble magus dosing system since i will be going to lake tahoe for a week in december. I have been manually dosing for maybe a year and a half if not more and will be my first dosing system ever :P.....but stability is key in having a successful reef IMO

Thanks xmj, that is exactly what I meant, and there is absolutely nothing false about my statement. I probably should have been clearer.

Everyone was telling him he needs to have stable conditions and no one told him how. Whether its 2 part dosing system, 3 part dosing system, balling method or a ca reactor, using and getting dialed in on one of these methods is the key to stability. For the 2-3 part systems it doesn't matter if its automated or done manually as long as its done regularly (daily is best) and keeps changes in ca/alk small.

Oh and btw my alk is sitting at 13 dkh and I have no problems. Its sudden changes or low alk that cause problems. At least on non carbon dosing systems alk at these levels are not a problem. Which is another thing no one asked the OP what he is using.
