A few more days and tank continues to consume ~0.05-0.07ppm po4 daily. Thinking about shutting refugium down. I am at a loss otherwise, SPS continue to lose tissue from the base.

As an experiment on Friday I cut up one of my SPS that was losing tissue from the base, put a piece back into this tank and another piece in a friends tank. The piece in my tank continues to receed while the other piece seems to be stable / healing...

Parameters as of this morning:

pH 7.9
Temp 79
Nitrates 10ppm
Calcium 430ppm
Alk 8dkh
Mag 1500
Po4 0ppm (After this reading I again dosed ~0.05ppm po4)

This is a pretty old thread. Are you having trouble keeping phosphates? Or trouble with STN? Or both?

I was going to respond that a system that is depleted in PO4 requires A LOT of added phosphate to be added because it binds immediately to aragonite (rock, sand) until it is "saturated" to a point. After some level of saturation, there will be a measurable residual in the water column.
