Currently 2 clowns, 3 springeri damsels, and a coral beauty. Plan on adding the two tangs (yellow and a two spot bristle tooth, which I had originally planned on adding at the same time but then this fish came up) as well as a Midas blenny, a couple wrasse, and maybe a royal gramma.
It's tight, but doable. Add the yellow first. Believe it or not, the two spot will hold it's ground once settled in, and may actually turn out to be the more aggressive one in that pairing.
I wouldn't house Ctenochaetus flavicauda in a 4'. They get large for a bristletooth. The purple is a hard no-go. The tank is too small and it will kill the yellow... ...and maybe your Coral Beauty. Seriously, they are demons even in larger tanks.
It depends on the size of the tank and the individual fish. Like @Miami Reef's reef alluded to, the "rules" aren't always hard and fast.
That’s good info. So add yellow now then fine to add the bristle tooth towards the end of the month. You said no to the white tail, what about a square tail bristle? Still trying to decide on the two spot or something else.
I think the square tail would be a better choice. Now that I think about it, the two spot get pretty chunky, too. A Tomini would be my recommendation.
It’s hard to tell what these guys will look like full grown. What do tomini’s look like full grown? I read their tail turns blue as they age is that true?
The body of the Tomini will get darker, but if cared for properly, their "flame" won't extinguish. See what I did there? No? Okay, I'll show myself out...
Or, if possible, rearrange your aquascape to break up territories. It would also help to have a mirror on hand to help ease any aggression if it gets too bad. Place it against the glass so that they get distracted by their own reflections. Works like a charm:
